Quote:Do they have a pay by the hour option? There tiers are perfect, but unless they a pay by the hour option, I don't think I'll switch over (I'm paying ~$600/m for AWS and there lowest tier is $583.80).
No, it is a monthly price range that allows 24/7 usage with ease. Provides something alternative to metered usage price.
Quote:And how reliable is OVH? It doesn't look like they're an American company
It's a french company that is specialized in market trouble-making. (aka. trampling industry prices). You are mostly paying for hardware and network. They will not hold your hands in case something happens outside their responsibilities. (Software issues). They will provide you hardware, network and SLA. It's basically unmanaged hosting. Their support is very functioning though. As for the uptime, it follows the SLA levels depending your package, and is no worse than other providers. In case of downtime outside SLA agreements, you will get refunded based on the time.

Their "North American" datacenter is based in Beauharnois Canada (near Montreal), You will be serviced in english by canadian people stationed in BHS datacenter. As for DMCA, Canada does not follow that law, so neither does the datacenter. OVH is not very strict with the copyright laws, but they do not neglect it either. Depending how much you pay and how much abuse reports you get, will affect how long they decide to keep you there. If you host a torrent tracker from 10€ kimsufi server, you will be kicked out instantly, but a WoW privateserver that is listed in USA's Notorious markets documents (Molten-wow/Warmane) is already hosting there for second year now. (They have 5 servers each of them ~$300 /month), and OVH dosen't seem to care much. Along with online.net, OVH is a first choice of all individuals and companies who host a seedbox (torrent seeding servers).
