I'm pretty new when it comes to the field of cyber security but I do have a great interest in it. I basically want to know what are some of the fundamental things I need to learn in order to start my path down cyber security. All I basically know is that I have to learn how to program and I am starting that by learn phyton online but besides learning a programming language I know absolutely nothing else on what to do next. If anyone can help me on this I would greatly appreciate it.
Absolutely new and I need some guidance. |

Cyber security has nothing to do with programming, at all. Sure, it helps, but for "Security" (Not thinking extreme security) programming, especially Python is not needed. One thing to learn is how networking works. If you understand that, then you will have an idea of how hackers attack them, and how you might prevent that from happening to be secure. Basically learning how things work helps you to not do something that might be bad in future to ruin you protection.
Research and watch tutorials on how to (for noobs) hide your ip, encryption of online data, viruses ect. Then you might be able to avoid doing such things. Hope I helped :D (Nov 2, 2015 12:07 AM)Naidoxe Wrote: Cyber security has nothing to do with programming, at all. Networking helps with online (website, server) security. After you learn programming, learn networking, then using your knowledge of both of those try and exploit some stuff and just fuck around on your own machines the best way for you to learn would be at a school or something like that, then you get certifications too (Nov 2, 2015 12:29 AM)I Roar too Much Wrote: Programming helps with application security. Which is exactly what I said, note when he said "Cyber Security" not really think he is referring to Application security, which is why I said you don't need to know a programming language to do that, and I recommend networking first off. :D |
