I am posting this article here, real quick, for those of you who have not heard of the Signal App.

Signal Messenger is an application by OpenWhisper that is designed to disguise all SMS and phone activity as ordinary data sent over 3G/4GLTE signal. It uses fully anonymous and secure end-to-end encryption that passes through an intermediary server which does NOT store your login or personal data. Essentially, it works much the same as XMPP, assuming it does not use XMPP itself.

This is the first application of its kind because it is capable of circumventing SMS and phone charges and making direct calls similarly to Skype. In fact, this application claims to have the same versatility and usability as Skype, except with additional privacy unlike any other application which has come before it. The application is still relatively recent, but already has over 1 million users and is extremely highly rated.

This application has inspired quite a lot of hope for the future of privacy advocates, and I am hoping that this reaches a few more through this post.
