Anonymous Hacking Group Takes Down 20,000 ISIS Twitter accounts

In the wake of horrific terror attacks in Paris, the online Hacktivist group Anonymous last week declared "total war" against the Islamic State militant group (ISIS) that claimed responsibility for the attacks.
While French, Russian, and US military are bombing ISIS from the sky, Anonymous members from all over the world are carrying out their very own cyber attack campaign, dubbed #OpParis, against the terrorist organization.
Anonymous has claimed to have taken down 20,000 ISIS-affiliated Twitter accounts in order to take revenge from ISIS for the deadly Paris attacks on November 13.
Anonymous Took Down 20,000 ISIS-affiliated Twitter Accounts

In a YouTube video posted on Wednesday, the group said:
"More than 20,000 Twitter accounts belonging to ISIS were taken down by Anonymous."

I really like the fact that that video actually says: "ISIS, it's to late to expect us", instead of the usual "Expect us."

Though this may not be the same as bombing those assholes, it's very effective to try and interfere with the communication and propaganda of ISIS.

I agree with what they're doing. Even though the majority of people who want to be in anonymous do these sorts of things for "fame" and "publicity," their motive doesn't matter. What matters is that it helps. I'm glad they are also giving other people legal ways to help.
"A man with nothing that he loves... is a man who cannot be bargained. A man that cannot betrayed. A man who answers to no one... but himself."

No its not effective we still see their propaganda.
Yeah but we will not see nearly as much of it. Anonymous is helping out big time by getting rid of those accounts. ISIS is practically screwed online.
The Islamic State will continue to migrate across platforms, and more recently, the tor network, in order to stay safe.
The idea is fine, and many sympathizers will be shut down, but the crux of the problem will mainly get brushed over.
i think anything that is done to stop them is worth my thanks! i hope anonymous keeps it up and goes even harder!
anonymous do have a good repetition when they say there going to do things. they have brought down twitter accounts, but in my account that is just islam not ISIS, when they communicate they do not do it on the surface web, but the deep web and how will you bring them down then.
Its weird how the numbers go from 900 to 20k accounts hacked/closed. Im always reading different numbers from article to article.
