Online Status Indicator for Currency Exchange section

This may or may not fall under "Layout Suggestions".

Proposal:

Include an online status indicator next to their name that will appear in thread titles in the Currency Exchange forum.

Mock-up:

Size can be a bit smaller to fit the title margins as well as to reduce image size. But then again if the same size were used, it would reduce an extra HTTP connection because it could be pulled from cache if the user had already browsed an existing thread.

Reasoning:

There are some forum users, like myself, who may require a fast transaction to save time. However, searching through the many threads to find a user that is online that fits their exchange criteria can be very time consuming, which is why this small status indicator would not only help the buyer find the seller faster, but also increase seller sales by showing their online status. Buyers may be more inclined to exchange with a seller that is online rather than one that is not.

Implementation of this feature does not have to apply to all threads in the Currency Exchange section; just the ones that is not marked as "No New Posts" or within a certain time frame.

I am unaware of the server or database load that this may cause and I do understand that people can just check the threads individually, but this feature does save time and improves browsing experience.

Thanks for reading this!

Excellent idea. Would be nice as I've had to search through 10 plus threads to find someone online. Would like to see this implemented but also see why its not necessary.
That would be really helpful, or at least show it on hover, I hate clicking profiles and checking if they are on.
What's wrong with you opening their thread, click on their profile and see their online status or activity time?
This could possibly work in virtual items, maybe even the whole marketplace.
I like the idea.

Although, not sure if this will pass through.

There's nothing wrong, perse. However, it can be a bit time consuming as .Reef has already mentioned. Personally, I have to do his same task every time I want to do an exchange on HF. This time adds up.

Not sure if the load created by opening new tabs and checking online status is better or worse than load created by this new feature.

Well it would be useful for sure but would require an amount of queries I'm pretty sure Omniscient does not want to add.

This sounds to be more of a critique to the online status indicator itself rather than the suggested extra implementation.

No, a member being online doesn't mean that they can do an exchange, but it has a much larger chance of completing an exchange as opposed to PM'ing an offline member because you filter those members out when on the look for an exchange.

True.
