New Years Resolution Giveaway - Presented by the Red Lions
The premise of this giveaway is pretty simple. Here in the Red Lions, we aren't just looking to throw prizes and gifts at specific people out of sheer chance--we want to encourage you to put thought into what you want to do in the new year. Rather than just coming up with some BS goal that you'll never reach, or something completely abstract, we'd like each and every one of you to spend a few minutes coming up with a legitimate goal/resolution for 2016. We'll give all entrants a week from this post to come up with around five sentences (not extremely strict) of something you'd like to do in this brand new year. Prizes will be awarded not by how "good" your goal is, but by how well thought-out your response is. We'd like people to be completely honest with themselves, and lay it all out for us.
However, even with our unique style of giveaway, we still have our fair share of prizes. Among the prizes offered will be:
$100 BTC - Yakz
$100 BTC - Grievous
2x Emerald Awards - !!* Alone Vampire *!!
1x Thread Design - iHydra
1x Gift Award - iHydra
Assorted Games (Humblebundle, Steam Gifts) - energ1zer
Optional Signatures

This year is for me to be happy with my body, I'm setting myself to go on a strict diet and overcome my cravings to junk food. I've already started at the start of December, hopefully I'll continue to follow this, and stick by this goal for 2016. Through out most of my life I've just been sitting down in front of a computer screen, not socializing or going out and just being proactive. However last year I decided to make a change to all of that. I may be posting a progression thread somewhere on Hackforums, of my body. Anyway awesome contest, GL to everyone following their new years resolution! <3
In 2016, I want to start working out and get fit, can't sit behind this computer all day like last year. I want to learn python this year and continue my goal to be a computer science major, something i wanted to be since middle school. I want to get a job in the meantime and try to support myself, family can only support you for so long. I want to leave the house more often and be more social with others, staying on the computer mostly to advance with my computer science studies. Last off, I want to work to be someone that others look up to and be an inspiration to others. Thanks for your time in reading this, Happy New Year!
In 2016 I hope I can upgrade my "Currency Exchanging" that I do into a actual company. I'm trying to set everything up right now. When it's a actual company I'll have some extra features regarding PayPal. Also it will be my second company I'll be running. In 2016 I want my first company to succeed in 2015 it was mainly start up and everything is ready and prepared I hope I can make a good running company helping many students in the way. Also I'd like to give more of my profit to charity (I'm already donating monthly) I'd like to make that amount higher, depending on the amount of profit I'll be generating over the next few months.
DO NOT DEAL WITH THIS MEMBER
Well, it's finally a new year, so I guess that also means a fresh start -- literally fresh.
(2015)
First thing I do when I wake up in the morning is go straight back to sleep. Sometimes I don't even wake up in the morning, and it'll end up being 3 or 4 PM when I do actually wake up. Once I finally do push myself to get out of bed, I pretty much just procrastinate and sit around the rest of the day. I never really have any motivation to go out and do anything, and I'm kind of just in a state of "Well, I wasted my day, it's already almost over, might as well just sit around and do nothing."
(2016)
Well, now that it's a new year and a fresh start and everything, I think I'm going to start going to sleep much earlier so I can actually wake up on time and feel like I have a whole day ahead of me. I'll also take daily (morning and night) showers as opposed to waiting every few days, because I think taking showers and feeling clean in general gives you a sense of wanting to do things for some odd reason. I'm also going to be putting myself to the task of taking early morning walks, and once I'm out and about for a bit, then I'll consider taking some down time to just sit around and browse Hack Forums and stuff. I think my overall resolution for the new year is to stop being lazy and actually get dressed up and ready for every day so I feel better.
Anyway, thank you so much for the giveaway, and good luck with everyone else's new year resolutions.
Well, for the past 2 years or so, I've wanted to learn how to code. Specially, learn how to code in Python, but have always been busy, or pushing it off, the lazy way, which is kind of sad. So this year, I want to even motivate and push myself harder to learn how to code. Recently, I discovered that some other people here are doing the same (i.e. Effexion), so I feel like this would be the best year to learn, especially times where I have a lot of free precious minutes available. I plan on maybe purchasing a course, some ebooks, or just using YouTube and Codecademy. We'll see...
Anyways, thank you guys so much! Always been a huge fan of RL! Good luck to all!
This year, for me, is going to be a year about further improving myself. Last year it was my goal to better my physique as well as attitude towards others on here. My aim was to stray away from making neither convoluted goals nor help others, because I already do those things passively without really knowing. I'm keeping it simple this year. I have been training for over two years now, and going from a stick at 140lbs to cut at 165lbs. This year, my plan is to gain at a clean rate instead of not counting my macros and calories like I did last year. I have invested a couple thousand dollars into a home gym for my convenience as well as trying to get my mother into doing the same. That is really my only goal for this year, and I'll be putting my all into achieving what I've always been chasing and more.
Thank you for hosting such a generous contest.
I don't middleman any deals on- or off-site. Please don't message me requesting my past services and certainly don't fall for anybody who claims to be me.
I'll be turning 21 soon so this is a very special year for me. My goals for this year are not a big jump from last years goals. It's mostly to maintain what I've been doing and improve more in certain aspects of my life. For one, I want to start eating healthier. I usually do eat healthy but going out more and being somewhat lazy at times causes me to break that habit at times. So this year, I'll stay on track and keep it clean and healthy. I'll also be hitting the gym more often (Currently 3 times a week). Hoping to boost that up to 5 times a week (Swimming and lifting). Also, since transferring from Malaysia to New York, I've got accepted into a really good college and so I need to give it my all, studying, networking, and just making the most out of the experience. Finally, continue working on my projects and finding new methods to improve my businesses, My goal financially is to make $30k this year. Good luck everyone and may you all have a great year ahead!
In 2016, I'm hoping I can make my life even better. At the moment, I'm looking to go to a university, I want to get accepted and be the top in my class. Also I want to go to the gym a lot more and get ripped. Lastly I want to get rid of HF morons, and embarrass liars on the fourms :-) Merry Christmas & Happy New Year everyone!
English is not my mother language but I'll do my best.
Everyone starts making promises to themself but thats nothing for me. I'll take the year as it comes and will do my best. Nothing is going bad and hopefully it won't. People say that they did not workout as much as they wanted 2015 and make promise to themself that they want to workout more 2016. First day people will start going to the gym. They will do it very fast and do workout all day until they can't do anything more. Thats what people do wrong. Next day they just stop workout. Some people don't but I know that most people do. They have to sometime in their life understand that it's a long process and they can't just train out a few days super hard then just stop. You ahve to take step by step. Day for day. Thats why it's called a yearly promise. It own't take days. Not even months sometimes. Well well, I said I don't have any promises but I want to earn more money online. Im so lazy. I really am. Im looking around for some stuff I can make money off. So my goal and not promise tis year will be to earn more money.
I now spent alot of time writing this and won't even have a change against fully talking enligsh guys. I hope someone will read this and will think back about what I just said even with my bad english.
That was all for me. Iäll take the $100 ^^ 🤝
In 2016, I want to start to learn PHP and MySQL properly and study everyday, compared to now where I actually pick up a book once or twice a week. I want to be more dedicated to my work and actually accomplishing tasks rather than just wasting my time. I hope to be active on HF as well, as continuing helping members. Happy new year everyone.
I'm going to get in better physical shape, focus more on school, and try to make a lot of money. This year it's all about business.
This is the year that I will take the steps necessary into securing a comfortable future for myself. I am going to start investing in the stock market, I am hoping to earn at least 10k profit by the end of the year. I'll be investing about $50 of each paycheck into stocks, (I get paid weekly). I will also pursue a better job, I'm currently in my 2nd year of the application process to get into a local electrician apprenticeship, I'd be the youngest apprentice they have, being that I'm 18. I've already talked with the director on multiple occasions and so far it seems that I am proving to be a excellent choice for a recruit. If I get into this apprenticeship I will move out of my house, and focus on investing in stocks, and side projects such as flipping cars. If I don't get into this apprenticeship, I will request that my owners at Volkswagen and Audi send me to school to become a mechanic. I was already informed by the owner of my dealership that he has no problem sending me off to be an Audi mechanic, they see great potential in me. 2016 is going to be a great year.
They call me Gucci the Don the best that ever did it.
Mine isn't so much a resolution as it is a commitment to myself. I'm looking forward to continuing doing well in my studies (3.8 GPA after 3 semesters right now) and continuing working towards doing what I want, even if it's a field not very many people think about. It's imperative that I continue doing well, as my scholarships and future depend on it. As I said, not much of a "resolution" as it is a "keep on going with what you're doing kid", while keeping everything in balance.
Let me start by saying that I'm not the type of person to formally make a resolution; However, my New Year's resolution is quite simple, I want to make 2016 my year of redemption.
Last year was not the best year for me. I had been arrested the previous year and charged with a DUI, had my license suspended, and I was put on probation. I've been living this past year in a hopeless depression because I've been unable to drive, find work, and just plain out enjoy life. It was my own fault that led me into that situation in the first place but sometimes we have to let "hard lessons" in life wise us up.
I'm going to take this year one step at a time.
My first goal of this year is to get my driver's license back. That will open many doors for me, allow me to find work a bit easier, and give me a social life again.
My second goal is atone for a mistake I made during the previous year, in which I'll have to spend some time in jail. I failed to sign up for drug and alcohol class in time and I could be facing time in jail.
My third goal ties into my first goal but I want to find a steady job. I have never been able to find a steady job and that's always been a goal.
My fourth goal is to aspire toward skateboarding more than I did the previous year, all to make up for loss. Skateboarding is a huge part of my life and I haven't been able to effectively pursue it this past year.
My final goal is kind of an "all-in-one" goal and that is just to turn my life around and conquer the world that has been conquering me for way too long.
