I guess they want to focus on ecommerce now.

Actually, this will lead to increased income (in the future).

The stores are being closed to dramatically cut down costs.

These are their smallest stores, which are providing the least revenue and have comparably high costs.

They aren't that stupid.
Texas got hit hard

hopefully people will find a nex job fasst, but i doubt it
This shit happend in my country too, they shutd down all the factories, and by the time they opened kaufland...auchan...penny..lidl..and so on, but they didn`t hire so amount of ppl which worked in the factories...

Texas got hit the hardest with the closing of 29+ stores. Being one of the largest states in the US we had a large magnitude of Walmart Express (a micro-sized Walmart) stores.

One of them being located in a town of Kemp. People in Kemp are upset because now they have to drive to the next town/city to get groceries.

Meanwhile in Grandview they have Brookshire Brothers (formally known as Davids Supermarkets) to fall back on.
They've been trying to open a new one here for awhile now. There's already 2 not 15mins away from each other and they're opening a new one right in the middle. They haven't been allowed to build it until recently there was a fire started by "kids" at the location and they've been developing the land ever since. The 2 Wal*Marts we have now are Super Wal*Marts and the new one is going to be an Express... So fucking stupid.

There shouldn't be any development. Walmart is ditching the Express grocer business.

Walmart is more focused at walmart.com and their profitable supercenters.
that really sucks that alot of people will be losing jobs
As long as they're not closing my wlamart in NJ i'm ok.
