Dealing with Scammers

You're a highway patrolman. Your job is to make sure the roads are safe and that the rules of the road are followed. So you sit on the side of the highway watching as cars go by. When you see someone speeding you give them a ticket. Sometimes you just do loops on the highway looking for activity like weird lane changes or eratic driving that might indicate a drunk driver. And so, you see people get pulled over by the cops and mostly getting tickets and sometimes a cop pulls someone over in a stolen car or maybe they posses drugs and they are arrested and removed from the highway.

Now how well do you think the cop could do his job if he was called by the other drivers everytime one of them complained someone was speeding or driving like an a-hole. And yes, you can actually call the police to inform them of such behavior, you can even take down the license plate so that police can find them easier. But how often has anyone here ever seen anyone do that? And let's say the cop finds the car and what happens if the car isn't speeding at the time they see it? Do they have probable cause to pull you over? Unlikely, simply based on a random tip by a stranger that doesn't have a radar gun and wouldn't be able to testify in court.

Let's say you're driving now and you see a speeder going 110mph and nearly kills you in a bad maneuver. Do you pull over to the next highway patrolman and bitch them out for not doing their job? Do you tell them they allow speeding? He probably writes dozens of tickets a day that you'll never know about. It's practically an invisible and thankless task.

So what is the job of the highway patrolman? To sit on the side of the road and make sure people slow down when he's seen. He catches speeders and tickets them. Sometimes he finds drunk drivers and might save a life by arresting them. But most of the time he's just riding around making his presence known in order to create a sense of law and order so the decent people of the world can feel safer.

Ultimately though we drive on the highway and it's up the the citizens to drive responsibly and to keep a good eye on the road for those bad drivers. You cannot blame highway patrol when accidents happen or even if lives are lost. They are just doing their job as best they can and following the guidelines given to them known by everyone on the highway. Those that don't follow the rules often get away with it. It's just how it is.

And yes, this story is about me being the highway patrolman of HF and constantly being told I do nothing about scammers meanwhile I spend hours a day reviewing and closing accounts of members who indeed are scammers or intend to scam. Getting rather fed up with that perception too.

Members must understand that I am NOT going to get involved in your deals or deal disputes. I will not. Scammers get banned CONSTANTLY. Every day I close their accounts. That does not matter they will only buy or steal other accounts to scam from. So do not mistake the fact I will not get involved in your deals or deal disputes that I do nothing about scammers. In fact I do a great deal. And if you don't start appreciating that then I will just stop caring to close the accounts of scammers.

Consider yourselves notified.
