What actually is a "RAT"?
A Remote Administration Tool, commonly referred to as a "RAT", is software that if ran will allow a remote operator to have full control over the system as if he has physical access to the system. A Remote Administration Tool is usually associated with criminal and malicious activity. The operator controls the RAT through an internet connection, providing the operator with the following capabilities:

• Screen/Camera capture control
  
• File Management (including downloading and executing files)
  
• Shell Control
  
• Computer Control (power off, log off)
  
• Registry Management (add, delete, modify)
  
• Hardware Destroyer (overclocking)
  

How do you download one?
Downloading a Remote Administration Tool is easy when the source is trustworthy. You have a selection of two which I will explain.

Babylon (check the end for my crypter recommendations)

Babylon is a simple that was developed by Gyo', coded in C++, meaning that it is native. It has the features you would want and it's fairly simple to operate. I recommend this RAT if you want to target gamers that play CS:GO and any other PC shooters.

Ratty (check the end for my crypter recommendations)

Ratty is a "RAT" that was developed in Java by Sogomn. Java is a good language and the output stub will be partly FUD (depending on the time it has been public). That RAT has a simple GUI and is currently being updated by Sogomn with more features and options. I recommend this RAT if you want to target the Minecraft community (although you can use it for other types of spreading, it may be difficult)

How do you set up a Remote Adminstration Tool? (RAT) -Without Portforwarding-
The set up of these Remote Administration Tools are fairly simple when following my guide.

After your installation of Babylon, find the client and open it



After opening the client, navigate to File > Server > Start (Always do this when opening the Remote Administration Client.



Now, navigate to File > Builder > Client



Once there, move to the tab "Other" and uncheck these two options (only when testing on yourself)



After those two options are no longer checked, click "Build" and name your newly created server as "server". You can now open this and test all of your newly gained abilities on yourself!

Upon opening Ratty, you will be prompted by a message saying to enter a port
For this you just want to enter a port you know that isn't being used by any thing else (e.g port 80 is a no go) -Just sayin' I used port 2005 <3



After entering your port, Ratty should have opened



Now, you want to navigate to Client Builder and this should greet you



Save your server as any name you want, but make sure to put ".jar" at the end of that name

After you've saved your server, you should have gotten this message



Enter "127.0.0.1" and this will be followed by this message



You want to put in the same port you did when Ratty first opened (2005 if you copied me)

Your fresh server would have been saved to whatever directory you chose (hopefully that is desktop) You can open this now and test the Remote Administration Tool's features on yourself.



How do I configure it to connect to real victims?
I bet this is a question a lot of you are asking. Sadly, I do not own any of the VPNs here on HF, but I do know someone who does. CredX is a good friend to me and he owns a VPN I will be using as an example is this tutorial.

Firstly, you need a VPN to stay safe when using Remote Administration Tools.

It isn't mandatory though (Set the "DNS 1" in Babylon to your external IP which can be found here and make sure you have the port you are using porforwarded in your router. You can access your router's settings on your PC by opening CMD and typing "IPCONFIG" and searching for your "DEFAULT GATEWAY". Type your "DEFAULT GATEWAY" into your browser and log into your router from there. You can then portforward by going in to some advanced settings in your router's homepage. I will not get into too much detail untill later)

As I was saying, you will need a VPN to ensure you remain anonymous throughout your "RATTING" career. There are a range of VPNs available here on HF. I can only recommend one as I have seen it in action and my friend who I mentioned before uses it.

To start, you can follow a guide on that VPN to set yourself up with an IP. The IP of this VPN will need to go into "DNS 1" on Babylon and after you've named your server on Ratty it will need to go in "Which address should the client connect to?". The "DNS 2" can just be filled out with "127.0.0.1" and any random port. You can portforward easily using this VPN so that is why I honestly recommend it (it's not just because my friend uses it)

After a successful portforward, you can connect to a site that allows you to check if your port is open on your VPN.

Once it is, you can enter your newly registered IP into your RAT (see above) and start spreading! Some people say a DNS is needed, but honestly it isn't. If you are using your own IP for the Remote Administration Tool stub and your IP is dynamic then you will need a DNS.

If you're confused about whether your IP is dynamic or static, then let me explain.

Having a dynamic IP means it changes every so often. This can be a problem because whatever IP you used for your stub/server will be the one your victims will be connecting to. If you have a dynamic IP then it will change and you will lose all of your victims.

To avoid this, you can obtain a DNS and have a DNS client to update your new IP with the DNS (the DNS can be thisisnotarat.serve.org and whenever your IP changes, having that client will update your new IP to that DNS - You need to set up the server/stub with that DNS if you are going to have it like this)

Having a static IP means it does not change. You could possibly change it by calling up your ISP and requesting a change and they'll do it, or they could be assholes and charge for it. Could be good if you want to use your real IP for the server.

Now, I bet you want to learn some spreading methods, right?! I got you covered.
