please spare your thoughts on how to improve space without external sd card,

If your phone has pre-installed bloatware you can't remove, and you haven't already, you can root your phone and uninstall all of the bloatware which should free up a large amount of space.

Download a security or cleaning app like 360 or Ccleaner and remove the temporary files and such. What Drizzy said is your best bet though. Also clear the data of all the apps if unneeded and deleting the .apk's, I guess.

Not sure if this only applies to SD cards but I seen HDD that connects through your charging port.
