Best Place to Learn About SMTP / E-Mail Spoofing

Hi, I am green as green can be with SMTP and working with servers to communicate e-mail messages. I've been playing around with my own account, to no avail, and most of the external sites that provide the service go straight to spam, which is lame. I do have a server, so the tools are there.

Can anyone recommend either a tutorial, instructional or even a relatively cheap or freeware that is able to do e-mail spoofing with reliability, either through its own preconfigured SMTP or one that you're able to supply?

Apologies for being such a n00b, any help or advice the community has would be much appreciated. Cheers!
If you're talking about gmail spam filter then no, not really. For the most part there are very few email providers out there and the small ones they can just check with a dns lookup to verify the ip. Even if you could get a real smtp server to "spoof" an email (aka claiming to be coming from another server) it would probably still get spam blocked because it will do a dns check.
