I've already done an Internet search for this and found some good results. Looking for individuals who have first-hand experience using themes that they have found are very quick and responsive.

I am currently using MultiNews for one of my projects and it's far too slow. I want something similar (link below) that is more lightweight:

I am looking to buy a theme instead of using a free one. I don't mind paying ~$70 for what I'm looking for.

I don't have any specific recommendations but from my experience i think that almost 90% of themes from themeforest etc are too resource heavy. This is because they cram all these unneeded features into them so they cover a broader range of template needs. Imo you would be better having one specifically built for your needs so that you can then choose what JS etc is loaded, optimise files and images etc and in turn speed up the theme without the extra code that themes provide.

Haven't used the Wordpress version, but the HTML version is nice, smooth and clean.

Appreciate all the help. Turns out most of my slowdown was due to a conflict that forced all images to load at the start instead of LL. Closing this now.
