I will send a DM to @Verified (the official twitter account for getting verified accounts) anything you like. The most common use of this is to send a verification request.
You account has to have always followed the Twitter ToS, has never been suspended, and has to look at least somewhat professional. Profile can not be private either.
I have been able to get more than one person verified this way.

There was another thread. Basically it said if you have a picture, real full name, a website owned by you, active tweets, and a decent niche to your Twitter. (Music,etc)
