I presume a bin from a botnet is a lot more stable than say a bin from a common RAT found on HF. What botnet would you say is the most effective in terms of keeping connections alive and possessing decent execution rates?

The plan is to spread and keep connections on a botnet, then of course update the connection with a BIN from a common RAT. Is this a viable way of increasing installations?

If I am correct in what I am saying (if I am not, please correct me) which botnet both paid and free would you personally recommend?

I would recommend Intoxic IRC. I still have contacts with the seller and i've used it myself. It's a bit expensive but it's the best bot i've seen on the market. Sold only on russian board but still it's worth it.
