Well, I could've had a better day. I have been having problems at my job for a while regarding hours, I am a full-time college student and told them I can't work more than 20 hours (20 hours is perfect to cover my bills and I wasn't going to take a bunch of hours + college if I didn't have to).
Anyways, I didn't get any hours the past week or two, they transferred me to another department of the store today (because there weren't enough hours in my department, and that is when it gets bad.
After 10 minutes of being there, another (I think manager) walks into the room and he was giving me the stink eye and coming off as rude right away, he said "You are the new guy huh, I hope you do better here than you did in the other department" I didn't know what I did wrong in the other department, so I ask "What did I do wrong in the other department" he didn't say anything and gave me the cold shoulder.
We happen to be alone in the cooler a few minutes later, I then ask him "So what did I do wrong in the other department" he stopped and kind of snapped at me saying "Look, we have work to do here, I am not sure what you're used to but we need to get things done", I then said "I would like to know why you have been rude to me ever since I got here", he then stops and takes a step toward me and tries to intimidate me (Note, he is in his 50's and I am 20) he then says "Do we have a problem, I am your boss, we can go upstairs and talk to the manager" I said "we don't have a problem, but you have been rude to me ever since I got here and I would like to know why" he kind of just blows it off and tries to boss me around.
30 seconds later the managers call me and there are 2 store managers + my department manager, I thought at first it was about what happened, then they started talking about hours and thought I said I was open and could work 40 hours (not what I said at all), so, they then send me to the front of the store to bag groceries and push carts (note, it is 110 degrees out right now) and this is the one position in the store I said I wouldn't do.
After a few hours, I said "I can't do this shit for 8 hours", so I told my manager I quite and told him I am writing a complaint about happened in the other department before I leave.
I never had any problems with customers, always treated everyone nice and with respect. I still don't know what I did in my previous department that caused problems. Managers don't tell you there is a problem, they just talk behind your back to everyone about it I guess. Note, during this conversation with the guy who had a problem, I never once raised my voice and acted rude, I talked in a completely calm and relaxed tone, he was the one who was getting aggressive.
There is one funny thing that I can take from this. When I first got there, I went to the break room to put my stuff in a locker, there was a kid who was 17 there, he was new and asked me questions about how to read the schedule, we talked a bit and he said he worked up front, I told him "I would never do that and would quit if I had to" he was cool and I told him I will see him around. 20 minutes later I am two checkout lines away from him putting groceries in bags.
If you actually read all this you are a champ. If you have any questions about the whole situation please ask, I was not in the wrong here. So, how was your day?
