What are the shows you feel deserve more love or attention than they currently get from the community?
My list, in no particular order are:
Rainbow: Nisha Rokubou no Shichinin
Knights of Sidonia
Gankutsuou: The Count of Monte Cristo
can't rmbr anymore right now
Definitely Dan Vs., a show no longer aired that was before My Little Pony on the Hub channel.
God. I really hated my little pony, but man, Dan Vs. was worth getting that close to that program.

Beck -- Want to watch a music show that isn't doesn't surround moe high school girls? If so, then Beck's probably what you're looking for. Nobody really talks about this one for no good reason honestly; the characters are great, the music is great (especially if you're a rock fan), and the English bits are great too (watching the sub is a MUST, you'll miss out on alot of conversations the dub doesn't cover). Ended up marathoning this one in two days, most certainly underappreciated and worth the watch.

Paradise Kiss -- Very underrated josei romance/drama that sets itself apart from other romance series. The romance and story doesn't feel "anime" at all, and feels a bit real. Characters will argue and it won't magically get resolved. The prettiest outcomes don't always happen, and that's what I really enjoy about this show - it feels more down to earth than most romance series.

Paranoia Agent -- The only anime series by Satoshi Kon before his unfortunate death, Paranoia Agent is a fantastic psychological thriller that focuses on a mysterious boy who rides on roller skates nicknamed "shounen bat" as he goes around striking and killing those who see him. It's a very dark series - particularly episode 8, which is the darkest anime episode I've ever seen (about on par with Berserk's final episode). All of Satoshi Kon's work is absolutely amazing, with Paranoia Agent being no exception.

edit: oh hey, all three were made in 2004/2005, neat.

Ginga Eiyuu Densetsu (Legeond of the Galactic Heroes) -- Great plot, character development, sci-fi/space odyssey and overall well written. Probably one of the better anime that never really left the Japanese market. Its an older anime yes, but it has just the right amount of everything for this specific genre of anime that only a handful of modern sci-fi anime can compete with.

Macross (a.k.a. Robotech for North Americans) -- Another older sci-fi, but gets the job done. Believe it aired a few years after the first Gundam and really kicked off a lot of the modern themes and techniques used in sci-fi anime today. This one is also a bit nostalgic as its one of the first anime that my father showed me that got me into anime (was also as PS2 game that we used to play).

Plastic Neesan -- This is a short anime series (you can watch all of it in 30 min essentially, they are short eps), but it was a pretty comedic anime that not too many know about. Very meme-worthy, but also very good at developing the characters and humor that makes up this anime. Definitely worth the watch.

Planetes -- Another sci-fi anime (apparently many anime I watch are sci-fi lol), however this one is more modern. Its set-up for garbage men in space in the late 21st century is very much something different, but it delivers. The story is also well spread out (does take some time to get into, however once it gets going it gets even better) and doesn't feel rushed despite the only 26 eps in the series. Some humor and romance, but a lot of character development and a good, coherent story.

Kure-nai
That's a hidden gem not many people talk about.
Above posts gave me some good anime to watch for this week.
Though i was going to Mention Baccano but after big hit of durarara! , it got a lot of attention it deserved so it does not come under underrated anymore.

Spice and Wolf, Mirai Nikki , Accel World, Kingdom (terrible animation at the start but the story is worth it, and becomes A LOT better later on)
About Manga:
Kingdom, Nozoki Ana
Utsuro no Hako to Zero no Maria is a masterpiece 10/10

The first three you mentioned did extremely well and are really well received. They definitely got the appreciation that they deserved that's for sure.

By under appreciated shows I thought OP meant in this sub, S&W is prob one of the favorite anime in reddit but I hardly ever seen it mentioned here and I've been here for a couple of years now.
Same for Accel World, except it's not that well received, it's either people complaining about how short and fat the MC is or people who actually like it.
MN is alright in this sub but in general there's a ton of people who hate it.
Kingdom is truly under appreciated, it was one of my favorite anime in terms of story and the manga is within my top 3, if the anime had better graphics it could easily have been a 9.5-10/10

Kaiji is definitely up there its an amazing anime that hardly gets attention because of its art style.

Spice and Wolf is for us oldies who appreciate a good story and don't look for tits to make the story.
Thought Accel World did better than that across the board? I've seen the hate but still thought it did alright, same with MN. Pretty sure those who hate it here just hate it to hate.

Yeah I read it for the economics and witty dialogue.
She does have nice tits though.
Seeing how long ago the series came out... feelsoldman

Not technically an anime but an animated series that was underrated was probably Static Shock that was my child hood.I think sailor moon was pretty under rated for awhile it had so many references in other shows and it just died down like I barely see people talk about it, it's all about one piece, naruto, one punch man or dragon ball these days for mainstream anime.
