Parts being expensive all depends on where you live and whether or not you have to import. I own an Alfa Romeo 159 and it is a little costly but I've found that Alfas depreciate in value a lot more slowly than other cars making them more cost-efficient over the long term if you can afford the gas. The only downside is they're pretty terrible to drive on roads that are not maintained well because they're very low-riding. I owned a 156 in the past, and I've had to replace the chassis engine cover more than once on both models because of them being scraped off by speedbumps, potholes and the like. One of the other pros is it's an affordable Italian-engineered engine, if that's your thing. If your main concern is cost, get a locally manufactured vehicle or a generic brand like Toyota or Volkswagen.
