making an FTP account for user, how to hide directions?

Hey there,

I made a ftp user for someone the directory is /home/myfriendsname
when he clicked on the (..) in filezilla or anyother FTP Program, he can go back and see all the vps folders and files, like var/etc/root/run/sbin....

How can i hide all of these folders for him? I want him to be able to see only /myfriendsname folder

Please help!
You can try uncommenting "chroot_local_user=YES" in vsftpd.conf to limit users to their home directories.
Your FTP server should have a config option to jail users in their home directory (chroot) so they can't see anything outside it. It should be in your FTP server's documentation.

The poor remain poor by acting rich.
can you guys tell me how to do it via teamviewer?
Please.. whats your skype?
What FTP server are you running?
