List of Secure VPN's - Stop Buying Garbage Sold Here

This is a continuation of my old thread here.

Privacy has become a very dominant interest of mine for a few years now. I've always felt that even people with absolutely nothing to hide deserve to have every option available to them when it comes to their privacy. Everyone deserves to live as private of a life as they desire. Privacy is a fundamental human right recognized in the UN Declaration of Human Rights, the International Convenant on Civil and Political Rights and in many other international and regional treaties. Privacy underpins human dignity and other key values such as freedom of association and freedom of speech.

So....
Every single day I come across discussions about VPN's and what is really secure; And every single day I come across different vendors with a VPS and an OpenVPN installation attempting to offer them security. Maybe it's some hidden goal that a few of you have; to see how many different HF members you can mislead into a false sense of security... but it's incredibly frustrating and mildly infuriating coming into these threads and seeing all the ill advice. It's gotta stop. I've kept a list of strong VPN's I've used and have come to trust, and I'm willing to share it to try and steer some of you away from the bullshit found around here.

- I will not list VPN's that do not offer an anonymous form of payment.
- I am only listing locations I recommend using. Most of these VPN's offer more locations than I have listed, but due to data retention laws and/or invasive governments, those locations may not be entirely secure.
- This topic is not intended for those simply trying to mask their IP's to ban evade, avoid attack, play video games on, etc. Most any VPN is fine for those purposes.
- As most of you already know, a VPN should not be you only line of defense, nor is it likely to find a VPN that is truly logless all the way back to the data center. Do not buy one of these and think that you're safe to say or do anything that you'd like. Additional steps are necessary.
- I am not making these suggestions to aid in the breaking of any laws. I am making these suggestions to help preserve a basic and fundamental human right that is becoming more and more difficult to come by.
- Post here or PM me if you have a reason why one of the below VPN's shouldn't be included.

Know why one of these shouldn't be listed? Tell me.

No doubt dude, these VPN's around here that have 20 dollars for a freaking lifetime.. pfft.

Something isn't right there at all.. Good VPN's cost triple that yearly..

Nice thread, you seem to know what you're on about whenever I see you post.
What about nvpn? I hear good review about nvpn

Wow, I wasn't aware nVPN was still around. It used to be the most popular VPN on these forums from 2010-2012. Do you know if hellrell still runs it?

Honestly, I don't know enough about it to list it at this time, but hellrell was knowledgeable so I'll reach out to him to ask him some questions if he's still in charge. After five years of running a VPN I'm sure he knows what's up.

Added 10 more VPN's to the list. Will add more later.

They host their servers on OVH.

Too many locations to just be using OVH: https://nvpn.net/order.php?step=1

However you must choose just 1 location on checkout and you can change locations later. I'm not incredibly fond of that. At the very least, nVPN has to keep a database of which customers are on each location.
Vouch for this

That's true.

The nVPn I have is located in France though.

nVPN are pretty great to be honest, I recommend them a lot to people who ask.

Yeah you have the location you choose upon ordering and you have one free server switch, if you wish to switch servers an unlimited amount of times it cost $10/m
what is about perfect privacy?

OVH is one of the largest, if not the largest, Internet Service Providers in France. They are also the largest web host in the country, and I believe in all of Europe. Would be incredibly likely that most VPN providers using a French location use OVH.

Thanks for the info. I'll see if I can talk to hellrell later (assuming he still runs nVPN).

They'll be added to the list later. I'm a bit tired at the moment. They do meet my specifications to be on the list.

What about cryptostorm? I use it and I have had a pretty great experience so far :D

I do like Cryptostorm, and went to add them to my list. It has been a long time since I used them however, and when I checked their server locations it appeared they removed a majority of their stronger locations. Can you confirm that this list is accurate for their server locations, or do they have more that are not listed? https://uptime.statuscake.com/?TestID=tZj3HbyKm5

I wasn't going to list them if their Swiss location is their only strong-ish location left. They are a great company overall though, and I frequently follow their news and updates regarding privacy across the globe.
