Hello.
Are you interested in making a difference while playing Pokémon Go? I have something that you may be interested in. It's something you can leave in the background while you're walking and playing Pokémon Go, what it does is simply records the distance you've walked(in miles/km) and each mile you walk they tally it and it's money, no silly not money for you - money for charities, it's great because of this upbringing of Pokémon Go a lot of people are walking now. It runs in the background while you are playing it may may consume battery but I'm positive the battery usage is "Very Low/Low".
So how do they measure distance?
They use your phone's GPS and motion sensors to detect your motion and measure your distance. For the Outdoor Walk/Run & Bike mode, they use your phone's GPS, which is usually most accurate in measuring your activity's distance.
For the Indoor Walk/Run, they use your phone's accelerometer or other motion sensors (which may be more or less sensitive) to register your activity like a pedometer and approximate your distance. (This is slightly less accurate.)
They do their best with working with each phone's sensors and they use the same technology that other walk/run/bike tracking app uses. In most cases, they find theirs is just as (or even more accurate) than others. But in some instances (i.e., where there is a poor GPS signal, or your phone's motion sensors are more/less sensitive), they may be less accurate.
If you experience consistent and large discrepant inaccuracies, please let us know so that they can fix this. Feedback from their Members are very helpful for us to improve your experience with Charity Miles! To get in touch with us, simply submit a ticket or email us at [email protected].
Get playing guys! It's as simple as that, I provided the charities up above and remember have fun!
