i could get etc passwd and named.conf with ln -s and viewing from cpanel (downloading it)
it doesn't work with users too.
eg: ln -s /home/user/public_html/file.php file.txt - can't download it or view it from cpanel, the mail method doesn't work

i try to symlink users files but i can't view them with htaccess or download from cpanel or viewing via webmail
/etc/passwd and named.conf worked with cpanel

I don't know cagefs, been out of stuff for a bit. It's like a jail? So escalating won't make a difference? I'd check the version(s) of what's running and if they aren't current, see if anything has been patched recently.

yes, it's jail :) there are some bypasses but it's configured better
