I now realize Omniscient has given me multiple chances to avoid closure.
Yet, it seemed inevitable. I felt that something like this would happen and I feared it. No matter how hard I tried to avoid it, it still happened. One way or another I knew, some day I would get closed. And today is that day. My goal was to clean up the marketplace and the deal disputes sections. I've failed to accomplish it. It is truly unfortunate. My past haunts me. And I live by a question everyone should ask themselves. "If today were the last day of my life, would I want to do what I am about to do today?"
A couple days ago, HFAlert's thread got closed. The project was being shut down for crawling HF. I should have just left it shut down. I don't know why I fought for it. Probably because months of work have been put into it, but long story short it was re-opened. And that's what lead to my downfall on HF.
Somehow I got closed, I don't know who I harassed. What I did do though, is that I PMed scammers asking them if they were going to resolve their disputes and I basically attempted to get in contact with both parties. I'm hoping to figure out exactly why I was closed. People do learn from their mistakes. Policy is a policy, and I'm not going to argue about it. I'm sure Omniscient had a good reason to impose these actions against my account. But once again, people do learn from their mistakes.
I am a multi, and I've been on HF since 2010. And what I can tell everyone here is that people change. I don't know why I keep coming back to HF. Some people hold grudges against staff actions and I'm not one of those people. I respect Omniscient's decision to close my account. I guess I can spend more time now focusing on other things. I'm sure HFAlert could have had an even bigger impact on the community if it was executed differently. I've heard that I was closed for someone on my staff team harassing another user or even perhaps for me making a staff team.
I've previously stated that the HFAlert staff team is not associated with HF Staff. And I was hoping HFAlert Staff could make a difference. Yesterday me, Stashy, and #Doge were resolving a dispute between two parties. Hours were spent and we heard both sides of the story. I'll honestly miss HF, and I'll probably be dragged back to it again. A lot of people may hold grudges against me for being added into HFAlert. People are stating that another user may re-create HFAlert. Most likely it will be me since I cannot stay away from HF. I've always had good intentions and I always respected site policy, I still fucked up though. It's funny how things can change so quickly. I'll miss everyone.
