According to this Microsoft page Extended support for vista doesn't end until 4-11-2017. OP: Follow these directions. 1. Login as an Administrator 2. Hit Windows key and r to bring up the Run dialog 3. type services.msc and hit enter 4. Find windows update and right click, select Properties. 5. In the middle of the box that popped up you should see some buttons; Start, Stop, Pause, Resume. Click the Stop button 6. After the service has stopped browse to this folder: C:\Windows\SoftwareDistribution 7. Select everything and right click and select Copy. 8. Go to your Desktop and create a folder. Name it whatever you like 9. Open this new folder and right click and click on Paste. 10. Go back to SoftwareDistribution and select everything and right click and select Delete. Click on Yes to any UAC prompts that may come up 11. There should be nothing in C:\Windows\SoftwareDistribution. 12. Go back to services and on Windows update click on Start. 13. Go to Windows update and give it a few hours. Windows Update is rebuilding its Database so give it some time. The problem "should" be solved now. The only thing in Vista that's being patched now is security vulnerability's. Vistas lifecycle status is what I call Life Support. Bored? www.youtube.com/mrnapolean1 |
