(This post was last modified: Sep 21, 2016 01:56 PM by Nevieth.)
To start things off I think it's best to introduce myself. I'm known as Nevieth online and have been a member of HackForums since September 21, 2011. This is my fifth year anniversary on the site and I've seen it all. I've had amazing moments and had some pretty shit ones. I've met amazing people and made some great memories.
This thread is going to be about my own personal experience on HackForums and what I think of certain users/ groups/ and sections. If I don't mention something it probably means I have nothing to say about it.
What I joined HF for originally
I originally joined HF back in 2011 when Minecraft hacking and griefing was the newest big thing. I wanted to become a part of that subsection and didn't even take notice to the rest of HF. I started off as an asshole, and I actually regret that part of my life. I made some good friends in that section, but it really caused more harm than good. I hit on this topic more here.
Why I stayed on HF
This is an easy one. I stayed originally for the group Phoenix, which I applied to on a whim and was actually accepted. I made some of my best friends there, which I still talk to every other day.
Phoenix was a huge changing point in my life. At the time I was fighting depression, anxiety, and barely even left my own home. Thanks to those in Phoenix I now live a normal life, have friends outside of the forum, and go to work on a typically daily basis. I'm a completely changed man and it's thanks to Phoenix - which means it's also thanks to HF.
Favorite sections on HF
Looking at my post count you can easily see I post regularly in the Lounge and The Order subforum, however my favorite section would actually be Innuendo.
I stayed on HF for Phoenix and the Innuendo section, and I still regularly browse the section and even host my own LGBT thread there, located here.
Lounge: The lounge is what you'd expect, you can find practically any discussion taking place here. I go here when my other threads don't have any new replies. Nothing to really improve or work on except maybe response with Reports being faster.
Innuendo: My favorite section, it's sad to see it's condition now. Lately the only threads you'll see are "would you have sex with a whore?" or "should I dump her, she's pregnant?", which is depressing after what it used to be with 143 and Phoenix. I'm still trying to keep some good quality content goes into that section though.
Gaming Discussions: This section is mostly dead besides a few subforums like Minecraft and CSGO. I liked how it was originally when there were sections for each game like Elder Scrolls and Fallout (not sure if there actually was a Fallout specific section, probably a Bethesda section though.) Maybe to bring life to these practically dying sections you could implement some sort of reward for posting? Just a thought. Here's my gaming content for those interested --> here.
SRPP: What to say about this section... well it's about the same as it's always been. It's rare to find any actual debates, but when you do it's a complete blast. Most people there take things personally and rely on reputation to resolve any disagreements. I do like the prestige requirement though, definitely cleaned this up in that section when it was added. I also appreciate Omniscient making it clear that trolling that section will result in a closed account.
Anime Adventures: I used to browse this section quite frequently, but have stopped recently since it seems all possible topics have already been discussed. Now it's all just rehashes of old ideas.
A few threads I've made for example. Here, and here.
HF News: Well to say it simply I miss the old News, but I understand change is required to move forward. Nowadays the news seems almost robotic and trying to be professional, which I can respect... however it doesn't feel like HF humor anymore. The topics are all official announcement threads or world news. I missed when the News team would put their own spin on it all.
Griefing: I joined HackForums for this section, but now it's almost unbearable. I do respect those who still try to keep activity up but Minecraft griefing is pretty much a dead niche now.
Group & Crew Discussions: I'm not sure what I think about this section. It's all just a bunch of copy cat unofficial groups about hacking when the group leaders don't even know anything about hacking, that and leadership spots/ group sells. I personally think a section in the Marketplace needs to be made for these threads since it is a marketplace discussion. You're talking about buying and selling groups, so why isn't it discussed in the correct section? It seems like a huge blunder that's been overlooked simply because "it's always been like that."
Website Showcase & Review: It's a cool section, and I've gotten some serious feedback from it. Not much more to say about it, thanks everyone from that section for the pleasant experience. Here's one of my threads in that section, which has since been shutdown.
Free Graphic Requests & Graphic Services: A lot of requests tend to be for new business ideas and logo designs, but there are still some good requests made. I think this section goes well with the Graphic Services section. Here's one of my own threads I made, and I had a pleasant time with it.
Rate my Graphics: Most feedback you'll get for your work is "looks nice I like it" or "shadows are off bad font". You don't really get any detailed feedback or critiques about anything, but if you do it's awesome. My main request to this section is try to provide actual feedback and not just personal preference. Those who post in that section want to improve themselves, not be told it's "cool".
Marketplace in general: I don't use the market often, I've never really sold anything and last product I bought was back in 2013 or so. Everything went smoothly for me, but I don't like how alone you feel if you do get scammed. There's no accountability for scammers to finish the deal. Sadly Omniscient can't help hold users accountable for this since he's not involved personal with each trade and doesn't want to start mass banning people who are unconfirmed scammers. It puts him and the staff in a rough spot. All I can really say is Deal at your own risk and be safe.
Favorite Groups on HF
Phoenix: Not much to say about Phoenix except they saved my life probably. My favorite group of all time and a huge inspiration to me.
The Order: The group that got me back on HF. I had quit awhile back and decided to return from my hiatus to join Order again, and I'm over 1,000 posts in on the subforum and it's still going well. I love everyone in the group, it's a place I can be comfortable with myself, plus the group leaders make me feel valued.
Royalty: I don't know much about Royalty except Fictional wont let me join because he's lame and didn't like the free signature I made for him. Rip me.
Red Lions: What I believed to be an inactive group is still pretty cool. They're definitely the group everyone wants to join for some reason. No real drama ever comes up about this group, except that one time Nokia got hijacked.
Echo: I've never personally been in Echo but I can tell they're super duper high quality and a huge benefit to HackForums. Keep it up team.
Nothing more to say about groups. Either I don't know about your group or have nothing to say about it.
Staff Feedback
Omniscient: He's kept HackForums open and online since I joined. The longest it's ever been offline was only about a day or so, that's impressive. He seems like a great guy once you get to know him but at times it almost scares me to private message him about issues. I know he's a nice guy but he tends to let emotion get ahead of him, I'm still rooting for him though. Keep it up, and don't let all the low quality dipshits get under your skin.
King of Hearts: Never personally dealt with you but The Order calls you the king of memes.
Skorp: I've also never dealt with you myself but again I've heard nothing but good things. I have seen you around from before you became Staff, you were always nice and never egotistical.
Sam Winchester: I've had one issue I reported to you and you replied with a copy and pasted script that a mentor had already previously told me. Makes me feel like you didn't even read my issue and simply glanced through it. I don't hate you though.
