Is this something that needs to be updated?

So was reading through the Help Docs and came across a reference to http://www.novirusthanks.org

I'll post the quote from the section for you.

Quote:Some tips for your safety

Use an antivirus and keep it updated, unless you're a linux user.
Use a firewall.
Learn what phishing is and how to protect yourself from it.
Don't click suspicious links. Use your common sense to determine which links you can trust. A malicious link could infect your system, in some cases even if you have an antivirus, or steal your browser's data (cookies, or browsing history), therefore seriously compromising your security.
Before downloading a file posted on HF, first check the comments from other users about it. If there aren't any determining comments, you can scan the file yourself by uploading it to NoVirusThanks and post the result as a comment in the thread for other members to see. If the file is infected, it would be greatly appreciated if you report it by using the Report button at the bottom right corner of the post.
If you still get infected, check this forum.

Nobody seems to use NoVirusThanks and I assume that's because they no longer have a setup for scanning files.
Would it be better to link to something such as malwr.com ?
NoVirusThanks does however link to http://www.urlvir.com/ for monitoring the URL

Another quick note, is it possible within the mybb setup to have a confirmation on sha256 so users can confirm the file they are downloading is the same file with the scan attached? Would save staff time if they have to check if the file matches the scan themselves when reported.

Last note, would it be possible to update that part of the help documents to advise users against all files even with a virus scan as that's the point of a crypter, to make antivirus scans pointless.
It does say "A malicious link could infect your system, in some cases even if you have an antivirus" So I guess I understand that it's covered.

Please remember this is just my opinion on it and the help documents where it is stated does link
Malware, Rat, and Virus Removal

Cheers.
Yeah, many parts of the Help Docs could use a rewrite.
