How to securely implement a killswitch..?

Let's say I had a brand new freshly installed computer, that I thought could be potentially hacked in the future.

So, I want to run a particular program from the start, just after the OS is freshly installed.

And it is essential that this program continues to run all of the time.

If the program stops running, I need a killswitch which shuts down the entire computer or at least the Internet connection.

Is it possible to implement this at all..?

Or could the hacker just get in, and kill the process for the program that runs the killswitch...?

For example, if you look at The Grugq's "Portal of Pi" dedicated Tor router:

Quote:"Additionally, the PORTAL is configured to fail close if the connection to Tor drops, the user loses their Internet access."

How would this possibly be implemented in software..?

Is it at all possible...?
Judging by your other recent thread, looks like you're really trying to secure something, more than just a home connection/computer, hmm lol

Well you can just make the process that you have at startup unterminable. So like it wouldn't be able to be killed by task manager or anything. This guy documents it pretty well, all the different ways you can pull it off. http://security.stackexchange.com/questi...in-windows

As for a literal killswitch, there's probably something in the WinAPI you can find that'll have some kind of shutdown option, but the best way I see it is that you have two processes running, one of them unterminable (using the link above) that checks to see if the other process (the one that you don't want killed) and if it sees that the process is not running, it forces a shutdown or turns off the internet. That might be a little overkill though. Maybe someone else here can come up with a better answer.

You can force route packet through an interface and disable other route.
Use an app like tallow/tortilla and manually block the classic route from to your router, if your tor connection go down, you won't have any connection at all
