DDoS Protection & CDN or Protected hosting company

Hey,

I'm going to be starting a very high-quality either cdn and ddos protection service similar to CloudFlare or a Hosting site, which one should I chose to pursue and name reasons why.

I'm nervous about doing the cdn because it's hard to top someone like Cloudflare, as for the protected hosting, I don't really have any reasons not to.

Keep in mind I'll have large investment going into it, so getting into the markets will be no issue what so ever.
L7 aside, how are you gonna handle the L4 floods? I can imagine single guy easily topping cloudflare in L7 protection with some unorthodox tweaks, but where would you host this service? Cloudflare has insane resources to provide L4 protection to all of it's ip's.

Downing a website, if someone was unable do it with L7 via HTTP protocol, they'd use L4 methods then directly the IP-address.

Where would you host this? OVH Game? Voxility/Blazingfast/Zare? Firstcolo? Link11?

Also you say CDN while you talk about reverse proxy functionality.. Will you have multiple locations? If so, are all of those locations protected similar to the core location L4/L7 wise?

What is your DMCA handling policy? And which kind of hosting do you not allow? How about the privacy?

Well, you certainly can't top cloudflare with in CDN functionality lol. They have too many locations to speed up and cache the websites compared to what one man business can offer.

I don't know about protected hosting company.. the market seems to be very small with lot of competition, but there's barely no reverse proxy services out there. Pineappleproxy is gone and Athenalayer website is unreliable and currently even down.

We would most likely co-locate all of our hardware with Voxility.

So basically just reverse proxies on a vox server (with some caching)?
I don't see how this is going to attract customers, plus vox doesn't exactly have the datacenters to provide a CDN.
You need to open your horizon, Your going need a lot of time.
Developers with skills and not some kids who think they can code.

People keep thinking money will be an issue within either of these projects, investments over 100k can be done and ready pre-launch, hiriing the proper people will never be an issue.
whats the point of this thread when you'll be doing neither of them at the end of the day XD
If you need a list of hosts with real DDoS Protection, PM me.

As someone with a large knowledge of how Cloudflare works, the whole point of a CDN is to provide speed and security.

Cloduflare has an amazing amount of colo's around the world which are all accessible through Anycast which allows you to be connected to your closes colo through BGP.

L4 attacks are easy enough to mitigate if you have enough IP's to find the website being hit and null-route that IP per source, while at the same time moving other websites on the IP to other IP's.

L7 attacks are very hard to mitigate as you have to look at each request to determine if it fits any rules?

So..... whats your problem with Cloudflare. Why not become a reseller/partner and make money that way?

The reasoning behind me not wanting to put much money into CDN is becasue I know I can't compete with CloudFlare, however, as for hosting, you still can even though theirs much more in the market.
You've been asking HF members for money to invest, and suddenly you've found 100k?

You have very little Hosting knowledge now you're talking about taking said make believe 100k and using it to collocate servers to Voxility, and believing doing so is instantly the solution to becoming a good protected provider?

Personally, I don't feel like you understand what you're trying to offer. You're just using words that you've heard before then saying you're going to be best at those words.

How do I have very little hosting knowledge, please, elaborate how you know this information.

Your past replies on this thread.
The fact that you're from Craze Hosting, which is already incredibly low in my books after poking around their set up. I wouldn't recommend Craze Hosting to my worst enemies.
