Remove password from word document.

Is it possible to remove the password from a word document? and if so, how would one go about doing so?

Thanks.
Yes. If it's old enough you can simply remove it. If it's too new, you will need to have the password cracked as the files are actually encrypted instead of just having a password prompt added to them. I can do this for you if you would like.

Problem, i'm asking for my boss, he doesn't know how to do it and his father just died, he needs to get into the word document, Is there anyway you can tell me how it's done?

Thanks.

Can you tell how old the document is? If it's old enough, it's as simple as opening it in a raw text editor and removing the line of VBS with the password prompt. If it's too new, you will need to extract the password hash using something like office2john and then feed that hash into a tool like hashcat or johntheripper. Again, if you would like, I can do all of this for you or your boss. It can take a lot of hardware power and a pretty well optimized attack setup to break newer office docs, both of which i have to offer. They are fairly slow to crack so it is still a pretty big maybe even with a good amount of power.

Just crack it.
It's local and don't have bruteforce limit.

You could use a WordList or classic bruteforce if password isn't too big.
