I know about Facebook and Reddit ads. Also twitter retweets, but I have yet to get a sale. Is there something I do wrong possibly?

I have yet to venture into shopify or similar things, but I assume (sorry if I am wrong) you are selling something, I could say its either your niche, the audience you are targeting may not always have money to buy it (if you are targeting teenagers or students who are living off their allowance every month) or how much you are investing in advertisement.
I'd understand if you'd not take my comment seriously since I am no expert, but I have read about stuff like these. Edit: oh and if you have a site, the sales page or whatever you call it may not be as appealing to the eyes of the ones actually looking for what you are selling, I've read that if you make a website you're gonna have to think about this question: "Will my site make people at least stay to browse?" because if I were to buy a product and am redirected to a website thats 'meh' would make me close the tab straight up.

It solely depends on your business. There is no allround advertising formula. Plus, marketing involves more than just plain advertising of cold Facebook traffic.
If we speak of traffic, there are FB, Instagram, Google AdWords, Bing Ads, Affiliate Marketing, Blog articles, forum postings, solo ads, classical banner ads, stuff like Reddit, Twitter etc. It always comes down to the individual business, as well as splittesting, analyzing your ad data (CTR, conversions etc.) and go with the best. Since many businesses involve a certain kind of "warm" traffic, retargeting is very important (many people won't buy at the first or second sight). I agree. Many people these days think that Free Shopify Theme + FB Ads is already half of the goal. But in reality its really hard to create a converting store. It involves a professional and fitting design (to your specific niche), a specific amount of trust, usability, call to actions + scarcity (without being too sketchy) and other psychological factors. But you will get there by trial and error. Just don't think that basic Shopify theme + basic ads + basic products will get you anywhere quickly 🙂
I agree with the user above. Big earners often brag about their earnings and make newbies believe it's all just a matter of pushing a shit ton of traffic to a store you created 20 minutes ago.
It's not that easy. When starting out, you should push traffic using all channels available to you. SEO, facebook, twitter, instagram, etc. Then, when you start to see some results, determine which channel works best for you. I'd recommend to keep the SEO aspects of everything you do in the back of your head. That way, your site ranks while you focus on other traffic sources. Media buying is a stupid thing to do when just starting out. Sure, you can use it to quickly get an idea of which products have some potential and to see how people browse your website, but if you expect to start making huge profits everyday you'll be disappointed. I'd suggest to just read everything shopify posts on their blog and nothing else. That way you won't be distracted too much because of lots of people telling you to do different things. |
