Just a quick shout out to all the members of HF that are today enjoying this merry holiday of Christmas. Truly hope that everyone got their present wishes filled. Christmas is about not only family but also about community. Let's all take a moment to be grateful for what we have and also to consider those who are less fortunate.
I view Christmas as a time of the year when we have to look at our own humanity and reflect on what we've done over the past year. I try to see if I've done more good than bad. I try to see if I met my goals of my current New Years resolution. I question if I've done good for family and friends. And I then begin to formulate my new resolution for the new year. Pretty much every year I realize I'm not a perfect human being.
Today I'm cooking a 20lb smoked turkey (on the smoker now), a spiral ham, green beans, Brussels sprouts (roasted w/bacon), carrots, deviled eggs (mine are awesome), cranberry sauce (freshly made), stuffing, cornbread, yams (sweet potatoes) and mac'n cheese. Also cleaning the house. I'll have about 20 people over for dinner and to enjoy each others company.
My family already opened their gifts and my family were all very pleased with their presents. And speaking of presents I want to thank each member who took a moment to buy me a Xmas gift from my Amazon Wishlist. It's very thoughtful of the community and it's certainly a lot of feel-good moments when the UPS truck pulls up with a box. The generosity of members is almost certainly one of my motivations to continue to run this place.
Well, I will be on/off a lot today as I have a ton of cleaning and cooking to still do. Not to mention football (NFL) is on today.
Best wishes to everyone and Merry Christmas.
