And im still thinking of a name which ill buy the .com domain for. If any one is interested in help build an online community message me! Thank you Hey Matt, I'm just going to give you some unsolicited advice. I know you haven't asked for it, but I believe it will be helpful. I have run a lot of forums in the past, and I learned a lot in the time I've owned forums. I made my first forum over a decade ago, and I have been an active forum-goer since the 90's. For one, when you are looking for staff: Don't start looking for a partner or staff members until your community has been started. Why? Well, if you take on a partner or staff member before they even know what it's about, they might not even end up liking what you do with it. Wait until you have the entire forum setup, AND have some members before you start looking for partners or staff. The best partner or staff member is the person who LOVES your forum, community, and method of administrating. Just like you wouldn't agree to be someone's best friend before ever meeting them, choosing a partner for a forum before seeing them interact in your community is a bad idea. The best staff members are the ones who were the best members. Don't bring in your staff members from elsewhere. Promote them from your own community. Secondly, you probably don't need a partner or staff right now. You need a mentor. Clearly, you want support. I get that. That's fine. However, starting a forum is not actually difficult once you get the hang of it and have a vision. Wait until you have a community with a good amount of members to promote someone to be your first Moderator. That's right. Don't promote them to partner, Admin, or something else. If they prove themselves as a member, make them prove themselves as a Moderator. The best staff love your COMMUNITY. Not their RANK. If they bitch about being a Moderator and having to be active before a promotion, tell them to fuck off. Honestly, I can buy a domain & set up a new forum and get all the sections ready, with a cool theme & custom logo, and set up user permissions in under an hour. It might take a few hours to perfect it, but it doesn't take long to start a forum. I honestly don't think you need a partner for this. You just need a mentor. If you would like advice and support, I'm happy to give you it. I can teach you how to start your forum & set it up, and advise you through the beginning of it. I see a LOT of forum owners making mistakes, and I try to help new forum admins avoid those mistakes when I can. I hope my advice has been helpful, as I provided it with the most sincere care for your endeavors. Jesus, I wrote a fucking essay. Their management services are awesome so it's easy to manage your domains, and their customer service is superb. XenForo is easily the best paid software out there, but if you go the route of free then I strongly recommend MyBB 🙂 (Jan 18, 2017 03:33 PM)Nerdi Wrote: Right on! 🙂 I already bought my domain and webhosting with hostgator. I just read your little essay, well stated. You really seem to know what your talking about. I have a few questions to ask my self, but first I must get 25 posts, so I give you my second comment. 🎉 OT: I'll join your forums, send me the link.
