630's Testimonial To Hack Forums
Why I joined Hack Forums:
I first joined the site back in 2011 shorty after Xbox had a gamertag reset. I was unsure what to do with the ones you own and was told that you could sell them here on the site. I had known of the site but the name Hack Forums scared me because I knew people on Halo 3 at the time that were members and they booted people offline. This was scary to me at the time and I was nervous to join the site. I decided to join anyways and the decision was awesome. I was quickly addicted to the community and by the time I had ~75 posts I decided to make the decision to upgrade. I ended up selling my gamertags but stayed for the love of the community and opportunities to make money when I was younger.
Original Focus:
My original goal was to sell some gamertags and get out. I quickly started to like the forum and decided to stay. I had high hopes when I first joined. When I first upgraded to l33t I immediately wanted to become ub3r. This is something that used to hold a lot of prestige back then and applications had to be personally submitted to Omniscient and you were either approved or denied. This is nowhere as easy as it is currently to become and ub3r member. The original goal wasn't ever to make money but rather to work my way up in the community and try to become the leader / owner of a group or a mentor.
My New Focus:
I now realize that my original dreams will never happen. I became a group leader so I at least accomplished something off of my original list and I realized that it was an awful decision. I've shifted my focus as I've gotten older. I began not to care as much about what the community thought of me and tried to sell as much stuff as I could. I became a lot more focused on the business end of things. I've been very successful since then and I feel that I've been established as a trusted member of the community which is really my new focus. I dislike the current status of groups. In my opinion they've lost all their prestige. I'd still like to own a group or have a leadership in one. I had a bad time the first time but I feel that I could help run one and it be successful and I want that experience to give me a better opinion about groups. Aside from groups and monetary goals I'd like the make some forum goals for myself as well. I've had and lost the 24k award about 3 times now. I keep losing interest in posting but want to enjoy the community like I once did. Right now my main focus is to not lose focus on the forum and keep grinding.
Life Impact:
Hack Forums has been overall a great experience. It has changed my life in many ways. Aside from dedicating a huge chunk of my life to this site it has been an awesome ride. I've done fairly well for myself on this site. It affords me to be in college without a job. It is currently paying for the majority of my college tuition and rent. When I graduate next year I will be debt free and will have paid for all of it with the help of this website. I've never come across another site that has the opportunities and the marketplace that this one does.
Closing:
Just wanted to take a moment at the end to thank Omniscient and Hack Forum's community. None of this would be possible without you. Thanks for taking the time to read my testimonial.
