Java

Want to start with Java web application development

As the title says. I have no knowledge of java, c, c++, php, html, css. Any guide where should I begin? I have posted in the other forum too but though to post here for java specific questions.

What basics should i work upon before I jump to learn this language.
Don't. The support was dropped on all the recent browsers a long time ago (Firefox was only finally dropped on this last 52 version). That shit will only work on Internet Explorer now.

Java Web is the worst possible thing you could possibly choose. Java itself is fine, just not Java Web.
Ok, my question was about the java, which is used for websites. So where to being?

And my answer stays exactly the same. Don't use java for websites. Use it for anything else. Just not websites.

You can build desktop software and Android apps with it instead.

If you want something for websites go with javascript, php (Or whichever you prefer, I personally learned php so that one is my go-to), html, css.
Ok. I didn't explain you properly. I meant java as a backend for websites. All the big websites use jvm as a backend. So I want to start with that. Any direction?
node.js as told by others works on single thread and not good for deplyment without restart.

Anyways, please guide where to being as asked in the original thread.
You'll most often see Spring Boot projects, and it has become pretty standardized, so start learning it. Then in the future try out Kotlin with Spring Boot, with the kotlinx.html library it's awesome!

wut. Yeah applets have been dropped by browsers, but you can still use Servlets to server actual web content, along with serversided processing.

Fully scriptable botting/cheating software for games such as Albion Online, Rust, and SMITE.
Just start learning Java, don't go straight to web servers as you will get confused and lost. There are courses on Lynda and TeamTreeHouse if you want to pay for it.

Only post in the thread which answered what I asked. Thanks dude!
My suggestion would be to read a nice book about Java SE, like "Introduction to Java programming. Comprehensive Version. 10th Edition" by Daniel Y. Liang, and watch some online video courses at the same time, once you feel you understand concepts of Java SE, move on to Java EE, if you want you can read Oracle's tutorials for JavaSE and JavaEE they are very good:

https://docs.oracle.com/javase/tutorial/ and https://docs.oracle.com/javaee/7/tutorial/
or
https://docs.oracle.com/javase/tutorial/...index.html

Thanks for the suggestions. I'll look into it.
Learning the basics of REST API might be worthwhile. That way systems can communicate using HTTP methods such as POST, GET, UPDATE etc.

If he's talking about JSP, he could although it's not recommended.
