Can people make a living off fiverr?

Im asking this because i seem to be using fiver a lot lately to get me through my online econ class which i really suck at. Im wondering can someone actually make a living off of selling a variety of services on their own?

I mean i know some services do cost more than 5$ but sometimes i feel like the time and payout ratio may not be enough to make good money off of it. Maybe for a side income yea but i don't personally think people can live comfortably just off of fiverr even if they're fully booked all the time.

Whats y'all thoughts?
I don't see why they couldn't

You surely can. Whether this is desirable is another question though.

I personally wouldn't ever want to be 100% dependant on a single platform that could be sold, changed or even closed anytime. They just need to fully change their ranking algorithm or even ban you for some odd reason and thats it.

But to answer the questions: a lot of people can and probably ARE making a living off it, considering some logo, data entry, voice guys etc. are probably getting dozens of orders a day.

Depends what country you're from. $5USD in India has a lot more purchasing power than in the US.

Yea thats true and it makes a lot of sense. Someone in india or a 3rd world country making 1,200-2,000 a month is much more significant than making that here in the U.S. maybe thats why theres a lot of foreign sellers in fiverr. Or at least form what i have seen...

The money is in the upsell. You offer a basic service for $5. Then you throw a bunch of add ons in front of them. If they go for it, you're not just making $5, your making a lot more.

Look at the spokesperson videos on there. These guys are charging $100+ for thirty second video's. You could easily record and edit a thirty second video in no time.

Bottom line: If you're handing out flyers, then no, you probably won't make a living on fiverr. If you have real world, in-demand skills, then yes, you can make a living on fiverr.
working max you would have to do at least 2 jobs an hour to make $10/h. It doesn't seem practical unless you land big ticket jobs constantly, build up a reputation, or you're able to automate the process/very easily accomplish jobs.

It would be smarter to offer a service and use fiver as an outlet to sell your service on then diversify into different sites.
People charging like $5 per 125 words are making easily a lot. (if they can get to work and have orders ready to be processed daily)

How many words can you speak in an hour? definitely way more than 125, They make easily $20+ per hour for sure.

But thats just the voice over section. Theres many other sections on fiverr you could look into.
I think it's totally possible, but remember on FIVERR it's possible that they could close their doors one day so make sure you expand into other gig markets.
I saw a story not long ago of some guy who in a couple of years made enough to buy a new house from his fiverr earnings. So yes it's possible but you need to have a great high quality product.
It is possible but you must be consistence with your product and offer the best price with a quick turn around.
