Let’s face the truth, none of you reading this book will be the next Bill Gates. Not that you can’t make a software company. It’s the simple fact the time has changed, and you won’t be able to create the same innovative personal computer and software that he brought into the world. If you do indeed make a company around operating systems or computers, you might be somewhat successful but you are not an innovator. You are someone who is copying and creating the same exact product, so in fact there will not be another Bill Gates because the time has passed and no one can bring the same product back to the market in a way that will affect society like he did. Whenever you are managing a company or working on something you need to think of new ways to connect people and how to change the product completely to satisfy the ever changing market. If we are going to keep advancing as a society we need to start moving diagonal not forward. Moving forward is just changing different parts of a product but does actually change the value of it. Let’s take a car for example, they are very useful and millions of Americans depend on them in their daily lives. When Henry Ford created the model T in 1914 he introduced a moving vehicle to the automotive market. This would be an example of starting a new graph and being the plot (0, 0). Now if you look at the newer models you see the same thing, nothing has changed in advancing the technology, it has only moved the original (0, 0) plot across the “x”. So it is at (0, 103) because every year it simply moves down the line but doesn’t bring anything new to the market only simply improves the previous faults. This is not innovation; this is simply copying Henry Ford’s model T idea, and not globalizing the simple fact that it’s just a car. However, in recent years Telsa has come in to change the game. Tesla is changing the old Model T and creating a totally different product thus bringing the automotive industry adjacent and moving into the “y” axes. No one will ever again jump into the car industry like Henry Ford did, because the market is already dead just like the operating system that Bill Gates created. When you are creating a product to bring to the market, think about this. Simply creating another fast food joint is not good enough anymore, you need to figure out a way to do something different if you want to make an evolving product that will change the world. A common question that is often asked, what company introduces something unfamiliar to a market that has not been explored before? What value can you bring to a market that is unique and is something that the world doesn’t already know how to create/build. Before we get any farther I want to stop you if you think I am going to teach you the “secrete method” of success. I wish I could, but no one can teach you this because it doesn’t exist. You cannot teach someone innovation or in other words teaching someone about something that hasn’t even existed yet. Moving forward, I am sure you have some questions about the previous statements of the plots and hopefully I can explain it here. You can be a successful business doing similar things and not hold much value, as used above in the Ford example. Creating a new fast food restaurant could be profitable, but it doesn’t hold value. If a business is valuable it is going to stand out in the market, because it did the impossible and ventured into a new market and is the dominating company. Look at Facebook for example, it has over a billion users and is the largest social networking site generating billions of dollars each year. It owns the largest percent in the market, and is a leading company in news media. Facebook has value because other competitors cannot even compete with it. These sorts of companies are Monopolies, not in the government since when the bigger companies jack up prices but in the sense that they are giants in the market. The great advantages of these companies are that they don’t need to be money hungry like the rest of the companies in the world. They have all the customers because they made something unique from everyone and so they can focus on something other than money. Money is either a reward or it is something you cannot stop thinking about. Smaller companies need to make as much as they can because they have so much competition and they go into a saturated market. This is why companies like Facebook and Google are good companies to work for, and have unique business expense like doing your laundry. They can afford to take their mind of money and instead think about abstract things. Big startup companies are started each day and they aim to path the future, And So Can You.Chapters

10/10 would recommend

It starts from the beginning, showcasing his early successes, but also problems he had. There is a lot that you can learn from this book if you are considering making anything in the tech field your career. In fact, so much of this information applies to every career so it's a very useful book for pretty much anyone. Not only does the book talk about specific triumphs, ihopeshe18 also goes into detail about qualities you should embrace if you want to be successful. For example, there's an entire section dedicated to being a leader in your field, and for your team. There's also very specific information about marketing, how to talk to people in your field, business, and more. This book does not leave much to the imagination - it's jam packed with information and advice that is helpful to almost anyone.
I'm a successful entrepreneur myself, and this book was still useful. Even if you think you're on top of the world, you can learn from those "below" you. So, if you think that you're more successful than OP, you can probably still learn from this book. I highly recommend checking it out. You really get to know OP and what he's gone through, and how he got to where is today. I like how the book flip flops between his personal story and concrete advice that helps you achieve your own personal goals. Overall, this book is the greatest for people who need a little bit more motivation, information, or a story they can relate to. I would definitely recommend this book to anyone who wants to do more than just be a paper pusher for an annoying boss.
10/10
Lots of information, well-written, and applicable to the masses in a variety of forms.
