.Sinister: Starstruck, welcome to the 339th edition of the HF News. Do you have any shoutouts you want to make before we begin? Starstruck: Sure, shout-out to Raptor., Daddy and Package for everything that they do. And the rest of Skill for keeping gaming alive on the forum. 🙂
.Sinister: It looks like you're one of the few 2011 members that are still around today. Could you tell us how you got started with HF? Starstruck: I actually joined because a buddy of mine that I played Halo 3 with used HF to find people to play with. I joined up, created a boosting thread, a few months after joining and the attention it got kept me coming back until it eventually became a hobby of mine.
.Sinister: It's interesting to see how long you've been on this forum. Has Halo kept you here for the past 6 years? Starstruck: Not anymore, it did for a while but eventually the community itself became the thing to keep me here. I met a lot of people, learned a lot of things and it's a nice way to entertain myself and still educate myself at the same time.
.Sinister: Has HF made an impact in your life in any way in the 6 years you've been here? If yes, how so? Starstruck: I can't say it directly did anything itself to impact my life, but it did assist me in learning enough about graphics to have had a job with River Graphics which gave me a pretty hefty paycheck until the business burned down.
Not to take anything away from Hack Forums though, I love this site, it's fun to me. There are so many talented and intelligent people here that drive me to want to help out in any way that I can to help the site grow and bring about new members to teach the next generation of members and so on. But it can be stressful at times dealing with the negative end of the members spectrum.
.Sinister: I completely agree. I noticed you're a current leader of Skill. What's it like to lead an official group? Starstruck: That depends on who you ask. Several groups these days are led by people who just sit there and don't strive to improve their groups, they just like the position and don't care about the responsibilities that come with it. That kinda makes it pointless, easy and simple. For me, I want this group to maintain and improve over the course of time, and to accomplish that I'm willing to take the time and effort needed to either make it happen, or give the members something to remember. It can get stressful when you're pretty much watching over 150+ active members every day and handling complaints, ideas, suggestions, etc. while still putting in the work to make steps towards your own personal vision for the group. I want groups to have relevance again, and I'm going to try to at least show the members on the forum it's still possible to run a successful and active group. It's nice, but the feeling you get and the position I have is all meaningless if you aren't willing to work for it.
.Sinister: What vision do you have for the future of Skill? What do you hope to accomplish and achieve as leader of Skill? Starstruck: Well right now we're working on finding the core of the group, after we weed out any inactives we will be working on setting up a YouTube and Twitch specifically for Skill. The Discord is growing everyday so the end result there is most likely going to be partnership. We're discussing opening up a site to list news and events and allow people that aren't on HF to take part in our gaming discussions and events and more. We're trying to build up the group to a point that it could sustain itself even after its days as a group on HF are over. We have a long road ahead of us, but the more effort you put in the better the prize the receive.
.Sinister: I wish you good luck on that journey. It's time for a random question. What is one thing that nobody on HF knows about you? Starstruck: That I ball hard and can break the ankles of any of these kids on Hack Forums.
.Sinister: Haha. 😝 Thank you for your time, Starstruck. Before we wrap up this interview, is there anything else you want to say? Starstruck: No problem, thanks for having me. Check out the League of Legends section for sign-ups for our League of Legends tournaments for this month. Open for both NA and EUW, $150 cash prize and up to 8 spots in Skill are for grabs. Also, I'm glad that the community was split between deciding who was the coolest between Minimalist and a worn and torn sneaker.

WET FLOOR - WATCH YOUR STEP
Yup, still working out the switch to our new system. Not completely done yet. Many have been guessing that this is due to the upcoming API launch - it isn't. This heavy change is very much needed as the current way HF News Team works behind the scenes is flawed. There's a lot of areas it lacks in and we need to 'upgrade' the way we work. The API will complement the new system but not right away. MeshCollider and Computer Craft (Zach) will first code the website and integrate the API with it. At that point, we'll most likely have another "Under Construction" phase. What does this mean for you, the reader? More sections, timely editions, accurate site data (not that it's flawed now, just strips human error completely), and more to come with the API + Website Platform.
Chechnya Detains 100 gay men in Concentration Camps
Local newspapers and human rights organizations in the Russian region of Chechnya report that more than 100 gay men have been detained in concentration camp-style prisons. The prison camps were established as part of the widespread anti-LGBT purge in the area. The repression against the LGBT community began in the area after an application for a gay rights march was submitted in the Chechen capital of Grozny. The press secretary for the head of the Chechen Republic denies the reports because he claims that gay people do not exist in Chechnya. Prison camps specifically for LGBT people have not been established since the Second World War. >>Source
Taiwan Becomes First East-Asian Country to ban Consumption of dog and cat Meat
Landmark animal protection laws have been passed in Taiwan that impose fines and jail time on those that kill and torture animals. The Animal Protection Act amendment makes it so the sale, purchase, or consumption of dog or cat meat is punishable by a fine between NT$50,000 and NT$2 million. Although some localities in Taiwan already had measures banning dog and cat meat consumption, the amendment’s sponsor said that national legislation was needed. In addition to new fines for the previously-mentioned animal meats, those that intentionally harm animals could now see up to two years’ imprisonment and a large fine for animal abuse. The amendment could take effect by as early as the end of this month. >>Source
United Flight Incident Causes Outrage in China
A recent incident involving the forced removal of a passenger from an overbooked United flight has caught the attention of many in China. Weibo, a social media platform in China, had the topic trending with over 100 million views. The passenger removed from the flight was of Chinese descent, so many in China said they would boycott the airline due to United’s “discrimination” against Asians. China is a key focus for United and also represents the second largest aviation market. Although many are expressing concern, representatives for United in China did not immediately respond to a request for comment. >>Source
T-Mobile boosts the LTE network across the US after dominating the Spectrum auction
T-Mobile was the biggest winner in the Spectrum auction that shifted licenses in the 600MHz spectrum band from TV broadcasters to the cellular industry. T-Mobile later stated in a press release that 45 percent of Spectrum was acquired. Dish, Comcast, and US Cellular also bought plenty of 600MHz Spectrum. AT&T spent $910 million for 23 licenses in 18 areas. Verizon and Sprint however refrained from purchasing any new Spectrum. T-Mobile already performs well in large cities however with the help of the new Spectrum, T-Mobile should perform better in rural areas where AT&T and Verizon currently surpass it. After January of 2015, when AT&T and Verizon Wireless dominated a $41.3 billion auction, some would say this is a huge comeback for T-Mobile. T-Mobile stated the new Spectrum will be deployed "later this year in parts of the country." >>Source
End of supermarket queues?
Every child (and adult) dreads the long lines at the checkout isle when shopping. To counter that, Panasonic has introduced a new “Reji Robo” system, that has already begun to roll out across Japan. The Reji Robo sits atop the cashier and quickly scans all the items in your cart at once, saving the time and effort of scanning each item individually. The system works by scanning RFID tags (which are attached to each item), and a unique shopping cart which opens on the bottom. Shoppers simply place the cart on a scanner, and the bottom of the cart opens up so the items can be automatically bagged. Shoppers pay for the items, and proceed to leave without wasting any extra time or even making eye contact. One machine costs between £7,200 and £14,500 to install – less than the £20,000 an average British sales assistant is said to earn. It is hoped that every store in the country will use the robo-cashier by 2025. >>Source
Pokemon Go Easter Event: Eggstravaganza Goes Live
Although not too many people still talk about the game, Niantic is still trying their hardest to dish out fun activities to keep those active on it playing, as well as hopefully grabbing the attention of those who do not play it. The last event Pokemon Go had was the Water Festival one, where water Pokemon spawned a lot more than they previously did, as well as the introduction of two cool shiny Pokemon. Easter Sunday will be having a Pokemon event for a week where Pokemon Go states, "put a spring in your step". What could that possibly mean?! Well, if you are not familiar with the Pokemon Go game, you have the ability to hatch eggs that will become Pokemon after walking a certain amount of distance. With this Easter event, even Pokemon inside 2 km eggs will be hatching a greater variety of Pokemon. In addition, you will receive some extra candy for hatching too. It is an "Eggstravaganza"! All players will obtain a double XP bonus for the use of "Lucky Eggs". It is sort of a marketing scheme as you have to pay with real money to obtain the in-game credit needed to purchase the Lucky Eggs, but if you are a Pokemon fan and lover, that may not matter. >>Source
Minecraft Coming To Nintendo Switch Next Month
"Switchcraft" is coming to doors sooner than you think! Next month on May 11, Microsoft will be releasing Minecraft for the Nintendo Switch digitally on the Nintendo store. Hearthstone's new expansion costs an average of $400 to complete
Journey to Un'Goro is Hearthstone's latest expansion pack. It is the fifth expansion pack to Hearthstone and was released on April 6 in the Americas, and a day later in Europe and Asia. The new pack holds 135 collectial cards and a new hero named, Maiev Shadowsong. Two sources, one from PCGamer and the other from Forbes state that majority of fans have complained about the prices of obtaining these new cards, and also the distribution of the cards due to getting duplicate cards in their packs. Blizzard on the other hand state, "There's nothing wrong with Un'Goro's distribution rates". A user from the discussion board Reddit named Seaserpent02 decided to go behind the scenes and actually see how much it cost to complete all 135 cards in the new Un'Goro set. Well, from the title of this article it should be apparent, but it is around $400. "Five cards were randomly generated in accordance with their rates, and the number of cards collected were tallied" Seaserpent said. "Repeats and all goldens are dusted, and two of each common, rare, and epic card are collected. Once the simulation had a sizable collection and enough dust to craft the missing cards, the number of packs opened was recorded. This process was repeated for 10,000 trials." (Source: PC Gamer) Blizzard offers a bundle in which you can purchase 40 of their packs for $50. The calculations that Sean had used suggests that it would require the buyer to purchase over $400 worth of packs to complete their journey. >>Source
PlayerUnknown's Battlegrounds Cracking Down on Cheaters
It is no lie when the statement, PlayerUnknown's Battlegrounds is one of the top played, most popular MMO survival game to date". Of course, it is opinion based off the stats... Well, you get the point. That is not what the topic at hand is anyway. PUBG for short is currently looking at putting their focus on security and fairness in the game. No one likes cheaters. It is one thing to cheat in an offline game when it is you and you alone, but to impact how others play by getting an advantage is just not the right thing to do. Of course, with the come up of a very popular game, comes with those who enjoy creating and distributing cheats to screw it up for other people. The developers over at Bluehole Studio say, "This is not a simple task, as tackling cheaters is a constant battle, but we are confident that over the coming weeks and months we can implement new measures to make it harder to cheat in the game, This week alone we closed two major holes that allowed current cheats access to the game, and as we move further through Early Access we will continue to track down and further secure the game from those that don't want to play fair." Not only is the security and crackdown of cheats going to be the main priority of the developers, anyone discussing the act on the public forums will bet in trouble as well as deleting the information from the public board. One thing that Bluehole state that is pretty interesting is that they already know that people are going to cheat. They know that it is possible and anything can happen within the game, but this method is to ensure that no one cheats as they are ready to take action when needed. >>Source
Overwatch Punishes Players for Taking Healing Characters
Are you a support player in Overwatch? Feel like you are not getting the appropriate reward for all your hard work? Support roles in games typically play a key role in assisting teammates and possibly sabotaging the other team. Whether you are playing games like Dota 2, League of Legends, Smite, and even Overwatch, support players are an important part of the game. Let us show some love for our support brothers and sisters! Recently in Overwatch, many support players have reported that they are getting "punished" for selecting these support characters. These players who are playing healers like Mercy are saying they are being treated unfairly because Overwatch no longer offers greater rewards when you choose a healing character. That is something very odd to think about. Although yes damage dealers and those playing the objective are a key role in a team, with the assistance of a support player by your side you can get many different things done and maybe even quicker. "One example given by a frustrated fan on the official Blizzard forum (going by the handle of Daz) describes how the player and a friend played on the same team in a competitive match, one played as Mercy while their friend played as Soldier: 76. After five wins and two losses, their friend had amassed 106 points (around 35 points a win), while they received just 55 points (or 18 points per win)." (Game Rant) Game Rant says that these reports have been going on for at least a month. Interesting to see how this will play out. >>Source
