Is Email Spoofing Illegal?

I just want to prank my school using an email spoofer. No fraud/threat/virus attachments/insults , just a troll/prank message.
Is it illegal? or it's ok? I don't think they will but, can they report the email to the police?

thanks
The email will most likely go to their junk folder... But as long you're not impersonating someone or something I think it's alright.

since it's spoofing you pretend to be someone else. I just pretend to be a teacher, not amazon or apple 😏 . would a proxy/vpn be safe?

Hmmm I would not do that if I were you. If it's serious (like impersonating your teacher and telling them you resign) and the school tell the feds, they'll track you down. Unless you're using a (paid) VPN that keeps no log.
Don't do that
Simple and straightforward answer: it is illegal.
