[Poem] A Castle Once Stood [Read and Rate]

A Castle Once Stood
-----------------------
The weathered dirt, sparse, still memorializes the blood once shed;
Meshed with the labors of war and famine the cobblestone was bred;
Besieged with esoteric desire and greed, the commonwealth fell, dead.

The mountains refract shades of stone to the children of midnight;
They wisp through that sunken valley of the many a forsaken knight,
without a whisper, a word, just the murmurs of dolomite.

A skeleton crew resides within the fragmented halls that once bore purpose to many, binding a cruel facade of unity;
Tho', even then, the Castle barely willed its corpse ridden community.

Just like its power that once was, its ruins shift and crumble into the same beast called, humanity.
Remember Me as you go by
As you are now so once was I
As I am now so shall you be,
Prepare yourself to follow me
