Greetings,
So here is my latest and sketchiest DIY computing venture. Awhile back, I cut the cable and now only use computers for entertainment. Therefore, I needed a setup that would work in both desk and HTPC modes. There is no problem reading text and seeing icons while sitting at your desk. However, while in HTPC mode, you sit way back a bit while watching a movie etc and it makes you squint and its hard to be accurate with a mouse. I should wear the glasses I'm prescribed. Instead, I decided to make a mount for an LCD TV that flips.
Basically, it's a wood frame made of 2x4s with a part that spins in the middle. There are two long and heavy duty bolts on each side holding up the middle plank that rotates. In that plank, there are two recessed nuts which gives it more to hold onto and wire to keep it from splitting. It uses L brackets to screw into the desk for the top and screws into the floor to hold the bottom. The speakers are wired in a way that you get left and right depending on which side your sitting at.
And don't make fun of my secondary monitors. One of them failed mechanically a few weeks ago. Then I knocked the other off the desk the first time I rotated the TV and it created lines on the screen. 🙃 These are my backups.
