Hello

I have namecheap and in domain settings Ive set subdomain CNAME to point at third party hosting, which I do NOT control.

So now its their hosting attached to by subdomain.

Ive set Url Redirect from that subdomain to Root domain (I absolutely need it)
in namecheap panel because I do not have access to hosting.


But its conflicting because of doubled host! I use host "subdomainname" in cname record pointing to 3rd party hosting. So now to redirect the subdomain i have to use exactly same subdomain name.

But its taken because of CNAME record.


Is there any way to achieve it?

I dont quite understand you really lol.. so

you have this in your namecheap dns manager:
subdomain.website.com (CNAME) record that points to a 3rd party website.

and also you want this (subdomain.website.com) to be the same as website.com ?

well.. i think its as simple as using www and domain.com or @ in the dns manager and point them to the same ip/3rd party location.

or use .htaccess to redirect from your main domain to ur subdomain.website.com

there might be another ways too .. im on my phone nd im still thinkin.. lol lmk if u need help!

So i've tried My way and it didnt do it. Ive added website to cloudflare. Then set url forward there. But that didnt work as I cant set the redirect on grey cloud (only on orange cloud) settings of cname record. And vice versa, I cant point to cloudflare if orange cloud of cname is OFF. i thought i had it but noes.


htaccess is not an option as I do not have access to hosting.


the www trick doesnt work in cloudflare.
