Just finished re-watching the second season for the third time. Take it how you want it really. It has a lot more "feelsy" vibes to it since: Spoiler (Click to View)the third years are graduating.
I just think it's a little weird where it left off. At times I find the anime dumb in terms of the story. S1 Ep 13 + Spoiler S2 Episode 1 (Click to View)At the end of season 1 they all perform Start Dash together and that's the end. Season two you leave off where you left off basically, obviously. But there's something new you learn at the beginning of episode one. I won't spoil that, so you'll find out for yourself. But what I will spoil which is the name of the first episode is that there will be another Love Live contest. I just think this is where the story is "wtf" because they literally just had one. Not that Muse participated in it, but there literally was just one. And what confuses me is they couldn't have finished a year of school because that would mean Hanayo, Rin, Maki would be second years and the third years would be gone. Weird, yeah?
In terms of music, they start to explore their own niche I guess you can say and this is really where their uniqueness against the other school idols really start to shine.
Overall, I truly enjoy Love Live for the music but the dancing is absolutely atrocious. In addition, if you aren't a fan of the 3D to 2D style/switching they do in S1 when they sing, I will warn you that they still continue to do it in S2. But I do advise you watch S2 as there's a lot of things you will learn about the girls!
