Difference between a good and a bad keylogger?

Right now I've bought a keylogger from other community. Mainly to find my fathers password on his laptop and friends FB passwords. - Yes yes, I know.. Don't tell me you haven't done it.

Now the problem is: every time I am receiving messages the words seem to be incomplete, now, I am no expert in keyloggers I know what they're supposed to do, I have asked the seller and expressed my concerns, his response is this. Are there any triggers, any questions I can ask beforehand to distinguish a bad product from a good one?

pretty sure your seller is bullshitting you and trying to cover his faulty product.
It's definitely not normal. The problem is that some keyloggers (mainly the copy-paste ones) try to store the words in another thread to avoid losing the stored keys and if coded in a bad manner, if your dad doesn't type one key per second, it won't get it properly. It will display a jumble of unintelligible letters and rarely some words for you.

My explanation is probably not a very good one, but the point is that it's not normal.
A keylogger that would display a log to the user at the end of the day asking him to email it to the person who infected him would be a pretty bad keylogger.

Jokes aside, seller is trying to scam you. Any good keylogger would pick up everything.

I am thinking I should ask for proofs of his product to see it in action? Now, of course, he can quickly fake some screenshots...

Or, tell him to inject me, and what I type he should have it returned - Now, probably that won't be the best idea.

You could maybe do it in a virtual environment with Windows XP, that would probably confirm it. You could ask some questions and see if it's copy-pasta (e.g. ask for the thing I said in my first reply about the threads), this would maybe show if he even made it himself or he just got a source code off GitHub.

I see, I should ask if the keylogger stores the words in another thread.

Noted, thanks.

Some extra bullshit

Don't even bother with what he says, he obviously does not understand how these things work. If it's solved then you should close the thread, good luck in future purchases!
