Guide for Junior year of High School

Hi guys, I am about to enter my senior year of high school in < 1 month, so I guess I will share some of my knowledge that I learned this year as I believe Junior year determines your future and whether you will become successful or not.

To start off, I will talk about friends. During this year, there will be noticeable changes in people. I saw many of my friends become a different person, whether for better or worse. CHOOSE A GOOD FRIEND GROUP that will make you a better person. Like the common saying goes, If you hang around 4 stupid people, you will become the 5th. If you hang around 4 intelligent people, you will become the 5th. I had to completely change my friend group this year because of how degenerate my previous friends were becoming (getting high every day and being lazy). Open up your mind and diversify. I used to hang out and smoke weed with rednecks. This year I made some really incredible and intelligent friends that have helped me change and become a better version of myself.

The ACT and SAT matter a big deal... I cannot stress enough how important it is to buy new prep guide books that were released the current year from brands such as "The Princeton Review", "Kaplan" and of course "The Official ACT or SAT Book".
If you're worried about the cost, there are many used books for sale on amazon that are a fraction of what a new book cost. The best thing about it is that there is absolutely no difference between the two. The ones I bought were in perfect condition, so even if you are in good financial terms, I would still recommend buying the used version.
As for study plans, it pays to be diligent. That means don't do some parts, and then go on a 1 month break. Make a study plan. Working on the book consistently and daily goes a long way. You don't even need to work on a lot of it every day, just as long as you do it daily it stays refreshed in your brain.

Choose challenging and invigorating classes. I went out on a limb and took Debate this year. Respect your teachers and try to be unique/stand out to them. You may find yourself needing a teacher's recommendation letter soon, so it is essential to build a good relationship with at least one of them It is one of the best decisions that I've made in my life by benefiting me in so many ways that I did not expect. Get your community service hours in quickly, and don't procrastinate.
I also started going to the gym on a routine basis. It's very beneficial to work on your body. Even if you don't care about building muscle or looking good, it at least challenges you and pushes you to your breaking point and makes you tired. That way you build a habit of pushing yourself so that when things such as homework or studying makes you tired, you can find that inner reserve inside of you that makes you say fuck it and keep on going.

I hope you put this information to good use. I wish you the best of luck, and enjoy high school while it lasts. Time truly flies by quickly.

This is a very nice thread man. I'm going into my junior year of high school and I can't wait. Will be hitting the gym 6/7 days a week once I get a car and my license. So excited.

"Respect your teachers and try to stand out" <---- This. I just graduated high school. I wasn't the best student but all of my teachers and I had a mutual respect because I wasn't much like any other student in my class. No teacher likes a dick rider, they like to see character.
Don't even waste your money on prep books and prep classes for ACT/SAT:

SAT: http://www.cracksat.net/index.html

ACT: http://www.crackact.com/

Those have authentic tests, and can even be paced in sets of ~15 problems. You can self-grade and apply the proper curve. Pay close attention to what you miss and fix it. I went from a 24 to a 31 with just 5-6 hours of crackact.
Try to get all the help you can get...best advice to you.
