I like it but I'm going to break down exactly what I would change, being in the field for a while, you learn a few little tricks to grab attention, my basic analysis is that I actually like the layout, it's basic, to the point and simple for what you need it for, here is what I would change and why?
The Logo:
A logo is your brand, you're starting this very small. I presume you aren't attempting to become famous by making this. It's simply a momento, friends, etc. But even so, what if you do catch the eye of YouTube Fame, or a TV Company wants to interview you? Never think small, create yourself a brand logo based on your name. You could get one for as little as 10$ from the Graphics Market I belive (had a look before hand).
Colours and Images:
Colors are important, they're a foundation to a website. Images should be attractive, intriguing, or minimal. When I design I attempt to conbine all three with Photoshop, so that a photo can draw a user in and think "This looks amazing" and at the same time, the image is not too overpowered, backgrounds, text etc can still be read, this can usually be done by toning down the images opacity and adding an overlay color (can be darker, or a shaded color) for example.. By darking the background, you make text etc stand out more, it gives the website more of a feature feel.
Fonts:
I don't like the fonts at all, just a personal thing haha. :)
Hope that helps, and goodluck with your travels!

I appreciate all the feedback! I am so glad that you wanted to write all you did. Thank you.
Ill for sure look in the graphics department for a logo. Great idea!
I'll be sure to look into the other 2 points as well. Those pesky fonts ;) haha thank you!!

I personally dislike the design, too cluttered and position on the slogan is too low. The backdrop is too distracting, hard to read the text over it. I do however, like the fact it's responsive.

Thanks for the critique, I'll look into what I can do to fix the design of it, especially the slogan.
Thank you :D
