About the X299 chispet and the LGA 2066 socket

I'm building a new enthusiast gaming PC with two-way SLI GTX 1080.

I was thinking about getting an i7 7700K and Z270 motherboard.

If they X299 and compatible processors are better, than is it really worth buying over the standard Kaby Lake?
X299 isn't worth it at all honestly. I would just go with the i7-7770k or Ryzen 1700.

This. I recently went this the 3770k With the x270x and its perfect.
If you have the need for that kind of performance the 1700/1700x is the better choice.
as others said for the cpu ^^^
now for the gpu, do you really need sli 1080? why not just get a 1080ti and save the headache in the long run?
it's basically a bet, if something/game works with sli, then it will be perfect. if not, it will be worse than a single card
