Hey, everybody...
I've been writing this for a while now to make sure I don't screw anything up but I could never get the introduction right so I'll just get in with it. I joined HackForums on the 28th of May in 2014. My intentions of joining were to test my abilities. I taught myself HTML, CSS, and JavaScript and I had just started learning vb.net Now I was quite young at this point, there was no one else can in my grade or even in my entire school who knew how to code so I knew at the point I needed a community or just some place I could share the things I make, a place where I could give help and get help if I needed it. It soon became a place I came to when I was happy, sad, upset, or angry. It's a place I've grown very fond of.
The early days...
My very first year here was very "testing" I didn't understand the sort of "unwritten social rules" around here yet and I didn't want to step on anyone's shoes so I started posting some of my own content and made sure I didn't say anything that could be offensive or incorrect. Now when I was in the vb section there were these "big dogs" of the section the people who seemed to know EVERYTHING and being the kid I was I looked up to these people worshipped the "hypothetical ground" they stood on. As a result of some of my small contributions and loosely put-together these people gave me positive rep! It was a sort of momment for me when I got approval and just thought maybe I was good or at least decent at what I do. This will always be one of my favorite moments on this site.
A while later...
Now, this part of the story is how I got l33t. So I've been around for a while now in the vb section and I see this keygen me contest for ub3r, and a membership to Enigma which was like WOW to me so I did what anyone else would have done I quickly pulled out my scrap book and started working out the answer, I believe I solved it in about 45 minutes I was so happy when I had actually managed to solve it, I thought I won Ub3r! But when I had submitted it I was about 5 minutes late, I was so disappointed but to my surprise, the OP still decided to award me l33t. Now, this became my second most memorable moment on HF. Shortly after this contest the group had a recruitment thread and I did end up getting in <3
The present day:
I've finally decided to stop lurking in the Vb.net section and have made my way to the lounge. Met some new, nice, and extremely generous members. The lounge section lets me post my opinion and share ideas with other members. Now very recently like yesterday at the time of writing the final paragraph I stumbled upon the Giveaway section, and out of pure whatever I decided to enter in one and surprisingly I won, I won Ub3r. It's been given to me by an extremely generous user.
Final thoughts & TL;DR...
HackForums has become a part of my life, it's become a daily routine. It's been a bright place I can come to when everywhere else was dark, It's helped me become more social in my everyday life. It's given me experience and knowledge I couldn't have gotten anywhere else. It's been an amazing 3 years and I hope for many more years to come.
