Wacom Intuos Tablet Help

So I bought one of these tablets the other day for my online art class I'm taking in college. I've never possessed any artistic touch when it came to drawing, but this tablet makes everything I draw look 10x worse. It's bundled with ArtRage 5 Lite (required for my course) and I've become pretty familiar with that, but the pad itself is still proving to have difficulties. I'm left handed and like most lefties, I drag my hand when I write which isn't normally a problem, but now it is. When I go to draw, it's almost fucking impossible because my hand repositions the cursor when I make contact with it. On top of that, I hate how it recognizes the pen when I'm hovering over the tablet, not making any contact with it. Any way to remove or change that?

Thanks.
You should be able to turn the touchpad functionality off by toggling a physical switch that I believe is located on the top right of the tablet. This will allow you to rest your hand on the tablet without it registering the movement, but will still allow use of the pen. In terms of the hovering feature, I'm not sure.

Good luck!

You should download the drivers off of Wacom's website and from there, configure the pen pressure n etc.

Thanks for that!

I'm pretty sure I did. It had me restart my PC and then I just went to doing my art assignments. I'll look back to see if there's a program or anything.
The hover-writing thing is something I've seen people complain about before, and I've never been entirely clear on whether it's a deliberate feature, a problem with the physical pen, or a driver/software calibration issue.

I guess a quick way to eliminate one of those options would be to try a different pen - has anyone else in your class got one you can borrow just to check? Is anyone else experiencing the same issue? Another obvious step would be to contact Wacom and talk to them - they'll be able to sort you out quickly. Alternatively, you might want to ask the folks at /r/wacom

The class is online so I can't say for sure if others are having the problem or not. I'll check the links out that you provided and contact Wacom as well just to be safe.
It's supposed to be called Wacom Tablet Preferences or properties.
