Python

Started python but im lost

Hey Guys,
2 weeks or maybe 3 weeks ago i started my journey to learn python. As i dont have any programming language exp and i want a carrer change i realy want this to be turned out good.
So i started to make some onlinen courses Sololearn, Codeacademy and wached some youtube tuturoals to learn the syntax.
I know now some basics.
But now im lost. like what do i do now? and i always feel that some things are way over my head. Sure, alot of people gave me the advice to just build stuff and solve problems but i have absolutely no clue how to do that.
When i have something in mind i google how to make this i find something and then i tell to my self ofc that makes kinda sense. But i could never be do even simple stuff by myself.
And i even learn python which is most likely the easyest language to start with.

And now im at a point where i think:
- am i just not good or smart enough to be a coder?
- should i learn it another way?
- should i learn another language?
- should i just stop coding and try something else?

Iam realy happy to take some advice from programmers who are experienced and can help me out!
You are suffering from impostor syndrome, just keep learning bro, the best were at your position at one point in their career.
Not understanding is part of the learning process.
Do you copy and paste or do you actually type out the code?

try to type every single line

i ordered a book "learn python the hard way"

maybe i should read that first and then try again?
just start with basic shit, write down what you want to do, and write up programs googling how to do shit as u go.

example

1. print out hello world
2. take in two numbers, and print out their sum
3. take in a number, and print out every number divisible by two from 0 to that number

yeah i did some small programs already while i was doing those courses, but i could never figure it out by myself again :D
i would have to cheat etc

Everyone uses cheap sheets and it's perfectly fine so long as you understand the code you're coping and what it does. You should just try and automate a task you do on the computer in Python.

create a simple script to back up or a script to move files from one place to another if they have -finished- in the name.

I had to download a lot of pdfs recently, like 100's, I created a script to do that for me.

If you don't like that make a python script to get the latest news and post that to your twitter feed or have a file of quotes that randomly post one.

I have no count on how many times I've had to google "print to file python" or "read output from subprocess" and similar trivial tasks that I do tens of times during a work week (obviously this estimate varies :P)...

It sounds like you're at a point where you benefit from step-by-step courses. Do those. Then close the browser and implement it again. Search on Google for popular interview questions, like the "FizzBuzz" algorithm. Read the description and try your best. Then, once it works (even if it works "only sorta"), find an implementation of it and compare.
Always look up concepts you don't understand. The beautiful thing about Python is that many people use it so ALL of your questions have already been asked and answered before. All of them. Yes, all.

Sure, some syntax will be hard to google... like wtf [student.name for student in classRoom.getPresentHumans() if student.gender == Gender.MALE]
Where to even start, right?

But yeah... all your questions have been answered.
(ps: that means "return a list of student name, for all present students in the classroom, if the student is male").
(pps: also don't use one-liners extensively. They are hacky, often ugly and not very beginner-friendly)
(ppps: ...also, try to figure out what happens in my signature. You may or may not win rep ;) )

I'm learning VB.NET at the minute and have had every one of these thoughts during my time of learning. It's just a case of pushing through no matter what and NEVER giving up. We don't learn with self-doubt and being a defeatist.

I am far from complete in my learning but feel I have a good understanding of what I have done so far and I got this by carefully reading, doing, re-reading and re-doing until I was confident in the section and could write the code out off-heart and know what it was doing.

It helped when I built my very first program that was useful to ME. You can find it here: https://hackforums.net/showthread.php?tid=5697523

After making that, it spurred me on to learn more and do more. Try to think of what you know so far and utilise it by making a program and keep doing this as you learn more.

one thing that will help you is having a goal for something you want to program. do you have a goal? if you do what is it? maybe me or someone here can tell you what modules to use for it.
i like python lua js
well tbh is dont have any specific goal in mind what i want to programm.
But my main goal is to make a carrere change, i want to earn money with coding/programming. i know its a hard time and takes also alot of time but im willing to try it :)

I realy raely want to earn money with coding, dont have to be much just something :)

It's gonna be hard to learn without a goal. try to think of something that's doable in python. do you have anything in mind? maybe a website?
i like python lua js
well yeah sure would love to make a website, but alot of ppl told me if i want to create a website i should learn css + html first because that what i need if i want to use django
