Trying a new style - something we don't often see on HF! I'd really appreciate your feedback 🤝

I personally like the concept, it's eye-catchy and a great design. The colours match perfectly also, which is another great positive.

Hey buddy,
I don't like how the headings have yellow outlines covering them -- makes it less readable for me. Using the yellow outlines alone would be fine for the footer but the stroke looks very pixelated. I'd say it doesn't fit the font. See artifacts below. The white ones are better, or put them behind the heading. Although I like how you played with the direction, it makes the heading style look inconsistent. The feature headings in the features block are also placed very annoyingly for my taste. It makes everything look very chaotic. The line pattern next to the headers are also inconsistent. I first assumed it stretched to cover the paragraph/block, but this is not the case. You're probably doing that knowingly, perhaps play around with it more? I dig the fading transition, the transitions of the stats block clashes a bit in my opinion. That may be just me though. https://imgur.com/a/cRFFn (Sep 5, 2017 08:17 AM)Baby Groot Wrote: I personally like the concept, it's eye-catchy and a great design. Concept would be a good word to describe this project ;) (Sep 5, 2017 10:49 AM)DevNet Wrote: Hey buddy, Hey! Thanks for the feedback, this is all fair and I appreciate your time. Playing with the text like that is something I've been experimenting with a bunch recently, to varying degrees of success. Sometimes I look at it and think 'ya that looks cool' and sometimes I'm like 'dude that's illegible wtf are you thinking'. Further tests are needed. I also recently messed with my font aliasing settings and I think I broke something. I'm honestly not sure why it looks like that in certain weights, but you're right. I'm just using Helvetica, so it's not like the font is badly-designed or anything. Hmm. (Sep 5, 2017 10:49 AM)DevNet Wrote: The white ones are better, or put them behind the heading. Noted! Fair CnC. I know exactly what you mean, but to an extent that was my goal. It makes the thread more of a journey than is usually the case here on HF (extending the whole space/exploration/etc vibe of the thread), but you're absolutely right - there's a fine line between encouraging user involvement in a journey and putting them off because the design is less straightforward. Yep, it's consistent for every item except the Custom GUI block. I'll change it, good spot. Design flow is something I really struggle with generally. I find it hard to reconcile clearly-demarcated sections with a desire to flow through the design. Both of those things are necessary, in my view: a clearly-signposted design stops the piece becoming confusing and prevents the user from getting lost on the thread, but flow is beneficial for encouraging user progression through the design. As you say, I got it right in some areas of this thread and wrong in others. I'm not sure how to have certain sections of this design flow into the next, but this is 100% going to be a key area of focus for me in my next project. I'll go and see how various websites handle this issue (I feel like I'm approaching the problem too narrowly). Thanks very much for your feedback, it's all good stuff and what I needed to hear!
I personally really like your skill and respect you as designer. Your style is unique and I doubt anyone on forum can do it like you. Colors are perfectly matched and easy on eyes which I really like.
One more thing I like a lot is effort you put in creating those little details. Overall a really nice thread design, well done mate.
Holy shit man good to see you're still kickin

Seems that's quite an unpopular move, I'll not do it again :) (Sep 7, 2017 01:51 PM)Cyam Wrote: I personally really like your skill and respect you as designer. Good thread design, the only thing i found annoying is Spoiler (Click to View) You should try different fonts or idk, "HACKED" font is awesome btw.
