Staying anonymous when using a reverse shell

I'm sure some of you read my thread on the reverse shell. I was wondering if that could be traced back, actually I know it can. My question is, if it can be traced back, would I used a VPS to connect with it? Even then my ip would be logged connecting to the VPS Right? How would I go about not being traced when using one? Also I read that a reverse shell could br coded with virtually any language, that INCLUDES python I assume? That's the language I am currently studying. Thanks for taking the time to read.

I know that using these without permission or for malicious intent is illegal. This is purely hypothetical, I don't plan on doing anything with this information. Just trying to learn. Thanks guys.
anonimity is a meme and everything when put enough effort into can be traced back

Tor. Even better if your shell uses Tor to set up a hidden service on the box you're backdooring so you can connect completely over Tor. If you have questions, feel free to PM me, I'd be more than happy to help.
